VIC Map recovery

Hi folks, I have a VW Golf R Mk7 2015. Thought I would be clever & update Nav Maps. First mistake, I formatted the SD card without backing it up. Have tried the VW map update site & downloaded the suggested maps, extract it to the original sd card. Plug it into the unit & no read.
suggestions please.

What MIB version are you using?
2015 could be MIB1 or MIB2. Both use different map versions and are not interchangeable.
Have a look at the video linked below and it will tell you how to find out what version you have and the history of map updates.

Well, first of all thank you for your assistance. Especially after a dealer wants to charge me $300+ for an upgrade. So much for lifetime maps hey! Hope these pics will answer your questions.

You have the MIB1 Discover media unit.
The latest update for maps in Australia/New Zealand is P57 N60S3MIBS2 ROW NT from June 2020.
Search for Golf until 2015, and then discover media from this link - Volkswagen Map Updates

There was a software update with the MIB1 unit to allow for map updates. Some units would not allow any new maps.
Not really up with what the issue is, you could have a search on the forum and you will find some further info.

If you don't have the updated patch it may need a dealer visit.

Thank you Flipper Dog, all went very well. This time I downloaded your suggested file to the HD then extracted it & transferred it to the SD card. Wadda ya know! it works.
