Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hi from Perth

    Just saying a quick hi!

Long time lurker, but new sign up.

I have a late 2016 VW Golf MK7 Trendline, manual gearbox, with driver assist package. It's been a great daily driver and is approaching 160,000 km. I had some initial teething issues with a leaky roof when new, but once that was sorted, everything was great - except for the servicing costs.

I've now started to see some wear and tear on the vehicle, but have no plans on getting rid of it yet. I'm getting intermittent clutch noises (usually first drive of the day) where I suspect that the slave cylinder bearing is starting to seize - but I should save that for another thread.

I'm also in the process of looking for a towbar installer. I'd like a euro style removable ball as I'll probably only be towing 20 something days a year. So far I've been having trouble finding recommended installers in Perth. Happy to take some recommendations.

If you made it through all that, thanks for the welcome & I look forward to all the advice.

    Cheers,

    Ben

Hi Ben, Welcome! I live down south from Perth. I fitted my own Tag towbar with a universal wiring harness but will soon be changing the harness to a plug and play one. I drive a VW Tiguan R-Line

It was really easy to fit if you're into FIY.

There are some useful posts on here, I lurk quite often.
