Hi all! I'm thinking about buying a VW, but I haven't made up my mind yet. I thought it would be a good idea to get more information and then make a decision.
I hope I don't seem too boring to you
Hi and welcome. What kind of VW are you thinking of buying? New or used? With certain models there are certainly some engines/transmissions to avoid. Don't try to make money at Stay Casino for a car, nothing will come of it. I tried it, it didn't work, just wasted money. I had a lot of fun though.
I'm thinking about a used car. Something under $10,000. I looked here carsales.com.au but I'm still undecided.
You talk about engines and transmissions to avoid. Can you be more specific? Or please give me a link to a forum where this can be read.
It depends on what kind of car you are looking for. A hatchback, sedan, a van etc
Just avoid (at all costs) any car that has this engine listed on CarSales: 4cyl 1.4L TSPetrol
So I would strongly suggest that you refine your search to exclude this engine.
The 2.0 diesel is solid, but I would not recommend you buy a diesel engine unless you regularly do longer drives. Diesels are not the right engines to potter around the city at slow speeds. If you do a lot of shorter drives (under 30 mins) and lots of city/stop-start driving then get a petrol engine.
