Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Heidi Ho Peeps!

Just sending this message out there to let you know a little about me and what I'm about!

Bought myself a magnificent 2006 VW Passat '4motion' and it's a real find, as it is in great condition!
Found this little community, whilst looking for some info or help in relation to opening the front doors with the plastic emergency!
My battery went flat in the car and I cannot open the doors, even with using the plastic emergency key.

If you can't get in with door locks, do the B6 Passat also have a lock on the boot? My next thing to try would be jacking the car up if it's on level ground (chock the wheels), taking the underbelly tray off, and hooking up a charger to either the starter motor terminal or directly to the alternator output so you can open the doors via the remote again.

      Cheers MIG!
Unfortunately my beloved Passat is on a main road and I'm thinking, unless I do that well after 10pm, it's going to be a little tricky! However, I did see a video where someone removed the VW badge of the front grill, by twisting it and unlocking the badge from the grill, then there was a mechanical release just inside under the bonnet latch. Have you seen this or know if the Aust. has the same mechanical release How to pop open the bonnet of VW Passat B6 without a key. - YouTube

That does look like the same mechanism, but there might be a honeycomb piece behind the badge, but that should also pull out.
Won't work if you have adaptive cruise as the radar sits there, otherwise give it a go.

          Thanx MIG!
I went out to try it. Got the badge off, but forgot to take a torch (or phone) with me to look for the release plate and then the ring to pull down!
So I'll have another shot tomorrow. I appreciate your advice and help!
