Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD Newbie just acquired a Golf GTI Mk5

    Hey all

I just acquired a Golf GTI Mk5 for peanuts and looking to use left over cash to make it look and perform great. Honestly first port of call is the look as the car is mechanically fine and plenty fun as a daily driver. So I'm on here researching cosmetic stuff and stage 1 tunes in Brisbane.

Nice one mate - welcome. What colour is your GTI? Manual or DSG?

You cant really go wrong with any of the stage 1 tunes for the Mk5 GTI, as all have well and truly been tried and tested and will give you the same results + or - 5% assuming the car is in healthy mechanical condition.

Tarmac Engineering is certainly a place that comes to mind to recommend in the Brisbane area for tuning. Mk5 Golf Gti ECU Tune - Tarmac Engineering

It's a midnight blue manual. Done about 100k. I'm thinking of having it resprayed black. I'm really keen on changing the look of the car.

This is my goal.... I love the look of this thing! Can a grill like this be bought or is it a hand made deal?
