Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Melbourne Newbie to this Group :-)

    Hi People

Not a newbie to VW, but new to this group.

I was looking for a place to discuss VW (manily Beetle's) with others and a place to record the Resto of my Father in Laws '55 Type 82 e Replica

I've owned a few VW Beetles over and years and even a Passat for a few. My last Beetle was a '57 Oval which was a project that never started.

I also owned a '65 Beetle? which I drove to QLD when I was posted there by the Air Force in 1982. One vivid memory of that trip, which was done at the height of summer in Jan, and only driving dusk to dawn, was pushing kangaroos out of the way on a stretch of road near Moree NSW.

The Beetle horn didnt scare them off the road (there were stacks of them) so I had to gently bump into them with the Bug Did have a plan to Baja that one, didnt finish it so it was eventually sold to a Mate.

Anyway, thanks for putting this group together, I look forward to seeing If I can add some value to the group and look forward to the day when I can drive a bug again

    Regards

    Shane
