Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Vic A3 Owner 8v 1.8T - DSG slips into neutral about once per year!!

My a3 (8v) slips into neutral about once per year when the transmission is down shifting from 3-2nd. The only way to recover this is to manually shift or stop/start the car. Pretty annoying and frankly dangerous if it gets you at the wrong moment - Audi service give me every pathetic excuse which, frankly, gets my blood boiling just thinking of the moronic excuses as to why they are not at fault. Its recorded on my service letter head from audi from the first year I've owned it (from new). Tried two different dealers, but it looks like AUDI train their staff in the skill of dumb explanations.

Just received my letter for the service recall (35D9) about the pressure accumulator - hoping like hell when they explain this that the symptoms align with what Ive been complaining about.

Possibly my first and last Audi - despite everything else being a delight - bad service = bad product.
