Hi there, just procured 2011 V6 Passat Estate Highline yesterday, getting a feel for the beauty that she is, especially that engine - gives it woof when you say bark. I’m a previous 2008 Golf GTI owner, and loved that car to the moon and back. Having a small family changes what you need, but not what you want, and the Passat V6 gives me just that - needs AND wants🤣🤣🔥🔥

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The rattle is likely from the timing chain. Air con compressor at that age is a common failure.2011 Skoda Octavia vRS TDI DSG wagon|Revo Stage 1|Race Blue|Leather|Dynamic Xenons w 6000K|9w7 BT|THA475 Amp+active sub|Whiteline ALK|RVC|

Timing chain replaced not long ago (according to inspection mechanic), would still rattle?
And when i engage A/C a little hiss comes in behind the fan noise which sounds suspiciously like a compressor as you have mentioned - any threads on here giving advice on how to DIY or places in Perth to take it?

How was an inspection able to determine the chains and guides were replaced?
Is it documented in service record?
Air conditioning isn't a DIY as you need to handle the refrigerant gases. Take it to an AC specialist.
Mph on the cluster I've heard of but never seen.
There is 'alternative distance' in the MFD setup options but that doesn't give you a big mph display, just a smaller one down the bottom.2011 Skoda Octavia vRS TDI DSG wagon|Revo Stage 1|Race Blue|Leather|Dynamic Xenons w 6000K|9w7 BT|THA475 Amp+active sub|Whiteline ALK|RVC|

Confirmed that chains and guides were replaced by the caryard, both by the inspection guy (state roads) and the caryard team.
AC does work, just takes fffffooooooorrrrrrrreeeeeevvvvvvvveeeeeerrrrrr to cool down - any suggestions?
And it is the small readout down the bottom, just above the cruise control kph readout....its weird, theres a you tube clipYouTube

You'll need to be more specific with startup sound. Take a video.
There is varying success with replacing the AC solenoid. Requires removing and regassing but the part itself is cheap.
I tried that and it didn't do me any good so got a new compressor and all good now.
Alternate speed distance in the MFD just turn it off to remove mph display if it's what you have per the video...2011 Skoda Octavia vRS TDI DSG wagon|Revo Stage 1|Race Blue|Leather|Dynamic Xenons w 6000K|9w7 BT|THA475 Amp+active sub|Whiteline ALK|RVC|

Probably wouldn't bother with a wrecker compressor.
You can get a new installed for about $1k then it will have a warranty.2011 Skoda Octavia vRS TDI DSG wagon|Revo Stage 1|Race Blue|Leather|Dynamic Xenons w 6000K|9w7 BT|THA475 Amp+active sub|Whiteline ALK|RVC|
