Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Forum newbie in Perth

As you may guess by my user name I can see the way cars are going, I will be owning a VW EV in the future, but for now still on petrol.

I've had a few VW's over the years starting with a mk3 Vento VR6, then I also got a Mk2 Jetta, the last one was my wife's daily which was a Golf Plus, got rid of all of those before emigrating to Australia.

We were going to get a Golf as our first car here, but were talked out of it and ended up with a Hyundai i45, nothing wrong with the car, but also nothing good about it either, but saying that nothing has gone wrong with it over the years we have had it, only had to service it and put new tyres on it.

I've always wanted in Kombi, but could never justify it in the UK due to rust/price issues, so we bought one here a 1972 with a 1600 engine, do plenty of road trips in it, the long ones mainly up to Exmouth. We like our old cars so also bought a 1951 Humber SuperSnipe, but that is just away to go up for sale.

Back to watercooled now, we just signed the papers for a new Golf Comfortline yesterday, currently still in customs at Fremantle so should be about 2 weeks until we get it, time to get rid of the i45 and this will be my wifes new daily. This will be kept until we get the ID, then the 'VOLTWAGEN' number plate will go on that until I convert the Kombi we have or another one I may buy in the future to full electric.

Don't know how much i'll be here, but thought I might as well keep the same user name over various forums just incase I need it in the future.
