Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    I own a black magic mkiv r32.

I've been a member for along time. Didn't post much, and haven't frequented the forum in years. Figured I never posted in the newbie / intro section so why not now.

A nice sunny day, going around a corner and pressed the accelerator pedal. The engine died. I got it towed home and misdiagnosed it myself as being a fuel pump relay. Towed it to a mechanics, 2 cam sensors later was informed the the timing chain jumped and the engine chewed itself. Needs a rebuild.

Welcome mate. Sorry to hear about your loss.

I can put you in touch with someone that has a spare engine if needed.

Although a rebuild isn't such a bad idea either, give you a chance to fit some nice cams, replace any worn bits... Big expensive job though

btw, do you know what number your R32 is?

It didn't come with a number. Its listed in the r32 owners registry thread. Although after uberwagen wrecked his r32 he let me pinch the 088 key ring and plate and stick it on mine. Didn't know it was going to be resold at the time.

Hey Zim, sorry to hear about your engine I remember your name from old threads, didn't know you still had yours!
Uberwagen has #1 still last time I spoke to him, I've got #144 now, used to be Balkanac's (then Topaz)
