Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hello, I'm a Newbie with an R36

Hello everyone , just doing my introduction. I haven't logged in for a while and noticed the welcome message directing me to post this!

I have a MY2010 Biscay Blue R36 wagon that I think is the best car I have ever owned, and will keep it for the foreseeable future.

    Mods
It started life with very minimal options fitted, so I have done the following common mods, with genuine VW parts, except the sunroof, but apparently is similar to OEM:
    • Tow bar and wiring installation (way bigger job than I expected fitting everything...)
    • Webasto sunroof (done professionally)
    • Bluetooth 9W7 handsfree and wiring loom adapter
    • RNS510 upgrade (H27 1T0035686F), from the RCD510 - still looking for more recent maps than V8!!
    • Reverse camera & wiring loom (basic version, again, way bigger job that I initially thought to get the wiring into the tailgate)

I did all the necessary coding with the OBDEleven bluetooth dongle and phone app.

Things that I still want to do:
Dynaudio upgrade if it isn't a complete PIA, or waste of effort for the results?
Get later map data somehow - I can't find any evidence of newish circa 2018/2019 maps except from this seller VW Navigation map Disc Australia & NZ V12 2019. with POI's, GPS SAT NAV UPDATES, free shipping do you think VW are still producing this DVD up to V12?? My local dealer is hopeless on this topic, and keep telling me they don't have anything to update it with. The VW part number seems to be similar for each version of the DVD produced - I could only find these version numbers on the web:

2015 Volkswagen Navigation CY Australia New Zealand (V8 )
    7L6 919 859 G
    7L6 051 859 AG
    A2C31261406
    Version displayed on RNS510: 8207

2016 Volkswagen Navigation CY Australia New Zealand (V9)
    7L6 919 859 G
    7L6 051 859 AM
    A2C3888140001
    Version displayed on RNS510: 8333

    regards,
    Paul
