Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD VanneW - Anne in her VW

    Hi
I live in NQ and have just bought my first VW. (VW Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg) Lots of technology to get used to and my first time not driving a manual.
I found the community via google search.

Nice ride but learn to drive it properly. 1st thing is dont creep in traffic with foot lightly on the brake. let it roll with foot right off.
Dont hold it on a hill using the throttle.

Most common misconception is that its an auto. Its not it is a manual box with electronic clutches and if you do the above you may burn them out same as on your old manual.
Just some advice the dealer wont have told you.

        Welcome to the vw family

I second what hillbilly was saying your transmission is a computer controlled manual so just treat it like a manual and you will have no issues

I have a alltrack myself a golf not passat and love it to bits they are great cars hope you get many enjoyable klms out of yours

There are a lot of electronic tweaks that can be done by obd11 ect cables have a look at the forums you will easily find them ask around in the forums you should find a friendly vw fan in your area willing to help lots of great people on the forums here
