Any new poster, with less than 5 posts - anything they wish to post must be approved by a moderator before it hits the forum.

this would reduce spam to zero

Not only are they getting better at sneaking, their posts are beginning to taste and smell a lot less like spam. Sneaky bastards!

I don't know the history of the forum (nor do I wish to tell you how to run it), but have you guys ever tried approving all new users? We use this method on another large forum I frequent and as long as all the super mods and admins are doing their job, it cuts out 99.9% of spam.
