Wouldn't mind going out ... but I'm off up north the next day.
we will be cruizing up sunday morning very early due to the air show and them closing the highway down to one lane..we also have a friend of ours following in a golf cab.. should be an awesome day
Vw warwick 2008 was a great event 8 waterpumpers turned out for the meet and it was a mixed field one guy came up from syndey in his seat ibiza gti thought was a great effort considering some where worried about the 150km drive from brisbane , everyone in our category was friendly and were great competitor's.
Ive been told there will be a DVD release of the event hopefully some more info on that will come though in coming weeks.
For me the weekend started very badly i was trailing my mk1 out to the track because i wanted to break it but the trailer i hired had a broken axle and they didnt tell me until i came to pick it up, but being already late decided to drive her out and what do you know 5kms out from the track the distributor sensor failed and where the hell do you find one of these for a 16v at short notice?? thanks to my mate chris (owner of the cream 5dr) luckily had a spare back in brissy did a marathon drive back to pick it up and it was all go from there.
I was taking it easy in the mk1 best time was 9.46 @ 74.2mph over the 8th mile i think i had the 2nd quickest outright time between the 8 of us Chris in the cream mk1 did a great run of 9.40 @ 79mph with a empty nitrous tank and a slipping brand new brass button next year should be better for him, for the rest i have a bad memory hopefully they will post and just to add lil_punc beat me during elimination rounds reaction is everything horsepower means nothing great driving by her
here is a couple pictures being a driver didn't get a huge chance to take pictures we had a few cameras floating around and a cam corder meeting up with everyone this Friday to edit and upload to youtube and some more times and details for now enjoy.
A few small videos from my phone more to come from the cam corder.
What a weekend .. fun stuff .. take the good with the bad right so .. the air mattress sucked .. i am now really sunburnt and sore , but would do it all again in a heartbeat .. Red lights and all
best the lil golfy did was a 11.479 @ 61.33 mph i dialed in @ 11.45 ... for a nice cold start sunday morning with my first win haha
will post up pics later and have ordered the video and got some video , pretty sure i have one of the run with Chris running nitro.. hehee .. will have to go back and check ..
Dads best on the twin turbo trike was 7.45 @98.?? mph he really wanted to crack the 100mph but the trike was a handfull .. mum walked away with the runners up trike trophy and dad got best sportsman for the day >> even thou he broke the sensor and blew a $600 tyre .. Josh (cousin) also walked away with aircooled runner up . was kinda a family weekend .
Overall it come down to reaction time , i think we all did good , but we all could have done better , although the car remained consistant on my part the driver did not , either too keen or not keen enough.
