        Tested the Route

Ok, we drove the route today and have made a few adjustments.

Firstly it's shorter than the last route by about 65km due to the length.

2nd thing is that we ended up at someone's house, twice, and at a farm full of cows, and once at a 4x4 only section and once at a road that just doesn't exist.

But we now have a final route and man, it is beautiful. The whole trip should take no more than 3 hours (including stops & traffic). The route is not hard on the cars or brakes and most of the roads are sweeping bends rather than hair-pins all the way up the mountains. The traffic was reasonably light and there are overtaking areas so it's quite nice.

I think we should aim to meet at 8:30 at Currumbin and plan to leave at 9:00.

There are a few Cafes along the way to stop for drinks but no petrol stations (so fill up).

For those of you who would like to meet up at Mount Tamborine, we can meet at St Bernard’s Hotel on Alpine Road. We'll be arriving at St Bernard’s at about 11:00 and after a pit stop leaving again at 11:30.

The final stop is at Harrigans Irish Pub in Calypso Bay, we should get there between 12:30 and 13:00.

It's a really fun drive, and not too challenging. Just the kind of roads VW's were made for.

I might just trundle down the coast, pick up John (Golfer) and meet you guys up the top of Tambourine. (Save getting up too early ... )

Although I have been rostered to work on the 16th, I have (all but) organised it off, so I'll hopefully be joining in as a shotgun rider (as I'm currently dub-less)...

I'll volunteer for some photo duties as I won't be preoccupied with driving, and I'd love to try some rolling shots later on in the day (for those who would like some purdy pics of their cars)...

Looking forward to seeing people on Saturday

Question: How much parking is available at the meeting point? If it's possible to get lots of group shots and everything I'll try my best to drag my sorry ass out of bed that early and come down to say g'day.
                              Cheers,

Quite a bit Treza. Plently of space for some group shots.

                                See you all tomorrow morning.
