    First Nats

    Hi all,

This was the first time at the nats for my wife & I and I must apologise for not spending more time looking at water cooled cars & meeting more of you guys. We spent to much of the day checking out the aircooled stuff & talking to people etc at the expense of our cars! Oh well next year.

It was great to finally meet the loon & was so happy to park next to ibeezer & chat about our cars.

overall we had a top day (getting first place was great even if there were only 2 of us waving the Spanish flag!)

Will we be back next year?....absolutely.

Thanks for the effort to those who helped make today happen.

Thank you too all watercooled organisers for the day and congrats to all those who won.

Omg. that was such a long day... next year ... chair, food and drinks are absolute must.

My suggestion, get in early and get out early. Only disappointment was having to pay twice at the gates, misleading how I see it. They should just collect $25 all at once. For convinence sake, complete pre entry.

Oh yeah ... THAT BLOODY PA purely annoyance.

You were the only standard mk2 there... First place would have been a easy victory!

It was the blue Cabrio with the plates GO93LF, parked next to John's Mk2! It was classified as a Mk2 as it was built in 91
                Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
                Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

hey guys just wanted to post up what it was like for the judges, there needs to be more work done of course, its only the 2nd time we have had this. the judging has to be fine tuned and the stickers that are put onto the cars make it impossible for the judges to know which cat you guys entered. if you car looked modified then it was judged that way. then to find out the car was entered into a standard cat ????? hello whats going on there.
anyway once again we have learnt things to make next yr better. and 2 judges that are expected to judge 78 cars in 3hrs makes things harder than they should be.

At the end of the day , the trophies are only trophies. if you think your car was the best on the day that is all that counts because nobody else owns or drives it, of course this yr wasnt perfect and it wont be for a while but we are trying and hopefully you guys had fun.
                      cheers brenton

Its not the judges faults. Its the fault of the owners who know they have a modded car yet still put it in standard cats.

you think that was the case and not a error when the name/car/catagory was entered in clubvw computer???

wouldnt be very nice if a person enetered a modded car in a standard catagory..... not fair imo.

definately need better communication for the judges, they need to know what cars are in what category.

I think drive through judging might be the go for us next year, it has to be easier to manage than walking around the show back and forth dealing with people walking around etc.
