Dyno Day III - 8am Saturday 9th May

Usually we try and get all the 4WD cars done first, however this time we'll need to mix it up a bit. I know there's a couple of people that need to get going early (yes someone has a wedding on the dyno day ), so we'll run a couple of FWD then some 4WD and then play it by ear.

Ideally we want them in groups so that the operators don't have to keep changing the dyno from FWD to AWD. If anyone has to come/go by a particular time please let me know and we'll look to accommodate.

Yes I'm sure we'll have no problems filling up the spots - just trying to encourage as many VAG cars to run rather than fill up with WRX's and EVO's

The GTI Stage 1 torque really surprised me. It got 610nm.

Yeah there was a sheet going around which explained what the values you were getting. The number you're looking at is actual torque at the wheel. This is the raw number direct from the dyno.

The number people are used to seeing is the derived torque or (calculated) engine torque. The RPM and gearing are used in calculating this number. On a dyno this number can be a bit "rubbery" so that's why they prefer to give you the "raw" torque figure.

610nm is about 2.5times the actual torque that car would be making. Derived torque is much more realistic.

In other words, unless you do before and after the tuning on that dyno, the numbers don't mean much.
