  • Perth's Hills or Coastal Cruise - 23rd or 24th May

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to organise something so all of us can go for a drive but i wasn't sure, and i still can't decide if we should have a coastal cruise or another hills one.

Coastal Cruise: I was thinking of doing this around 7pm on Friday, 23rd. Start off in Hillarys, Scarborough, Cottesloe (maybe stop there), and finish in Fremantle. We caould have something to eat there, make it a short cruise.

Hills Cruise: It would be good to do this at 9.30ish in the morning on Saturday Start off in Kings Park, go to Araluen gardens, get inside and have a walkaround, go to canning dam from there and finish up at the serpentine dam. From there we can take the freeway home.

I'll look at all the details once we decide what we want.

        I'm up for either...

If we're going coastal, better to start further north than Cott, as it's not much of a drive to Freo.

        And what's these newspaper articles?

articles in hills local papers, a quote from Antilag where I read about it

I live in Darlington the same place as the ex assistant police commission who is generating all this publicity. There is definately a lot of publicity in the local news about it and this wanker is even holding a WA policing forum for the local community shortly - no doubt he will talk about hoons. I will be attending and reminding him of the bigger problems of females in large 4WD's who are unable to stay on there own side of the roads.

Anyway my point is that there is probably a very localised focussed mainly on Darlington and Kalamunda and surrounding areas. They are too narrow minded to see if a problem may exist beyond there own front door. Just avoid Darlington and Kalamunda (including Weir Rd) and all should be good.

reading the article, I fully support what the retired de. commisioner etc is trying to achieve.

Bogans and hoons who tear around, street drinking, burnouts after midnight etc is a major problem and should be quashed, especially in residential areas.

however, i dont think that a bunch of responsible VAG owners cruising through the hills (and i would suggest not residential streets after dark) is the target of this particular campaign

Freo's a b*itch to park and get around in especially in the evening. I'd be keen on the Hills cruise on a Sat, though there'll be less traffic Sun AM.

a coastal drive would be a nice change plus we could get some awesome night time photos too.
lol even although i have to do the entire cruise just to get to the meet point

Hilarys is 10min from my place

Coastal would bore me honestly and I hate scarbs.

That said I'd be really keen on some good photo ops!! Case in point: my avatar was taken on the coast, just after sunset.

no wonder we go cruising once every 2 years!
I dont really care where we go, i'd prefer the coast, but its up to you guys. I wanted to go to the coast at night for the photos as well. It should be good to get some nice shots, especially because we have a beautiful coastline and skilled people.

There is a british car day on the 18th of May in Gingin, if you guys want we can go there for a cruise. BMW club has already organised something. ECCA is trying to organise a cruise as well, so if noone from here goes, i'll tag along with them
