If I may say, and this is a generalisation because I don't know you, optimise your wheel alignment, choice of tyre and tyre pressures before modifying handling. Work with what you've got, perfect your lines and get to know your car really well. I think then you'll have a much better idea of where it's lacking in terms of handling. Otherwise you'll be adapting your driving according to the bits you've tacked on, instead of the other way around. Rather than working to get more mods, you'll be getting the right mods to work for you.
After some research I think that Machines advice is very apt...$1000 to go fast bits might be the go then...then some suspension mods.

That's what I did. I made the car go faster and brake harder at the same time. Then got track wheels and tyres. Then played with alignment settings. Then finally lowered the car. Still on stock sways. Still improving my lap times.

Thanks for validating my advice. For once I was right! Yessss

      • Thanks again Clay. A great morning out as always. Good to blow out a few cobwebs.

I'm not sure if it's just luck but I never have problems with slow traffic. For the majority of the laps I had no-one in front or behind.

On the first lap I let everything come up to temp so that gives a nice big gap in front as everyone tears off.

And if I do happen to catch someone on the back section I'd hang back and make sure to get a good run onto the straight and easily pass them before the kink. However I did catch a large group by the end.

As always, Clay you were a gentleman and let everyone pass.

And thanks to everyone for the videos and photos.

I apologise for the silent parts of the video but I didn't think you all wanted to hear general conversations and some not so general... I'll leave it up to your imaginations for what might have been said

Wow, can see how he buggered you up which in turn buggered everyone else up. Nice video. Got blocked a couple of times I see, must've been a strange day because I saw a bit of that too. Oh well, next one will be better and I'm looking forward to it. Be interesting to see what a few suspension tweaks and a different haldex setting will do.

                • Some dog moves by that Supra...I saw the dubious move in my rear view at 21:45...a tad erratic down the straight.
I stayed left...it's an easy rule to follow. Just because you can put your foot down doesn't mean you should. Leave the ego and massive killer wasps at the breakfast table.

Awesome vidd. Love the car, and two laps of the Fabia before you left me way behind

                        • Awesome video Ben! (Mr TTS).

I loved it! I was hoping to see you chase down david, but was a bit disappointed that you had to pit in :/

Holy ****, that supra driver was an *******! lol.

That golf r at the start was insanely quick too! jeez! After watching that video, I think i'm still very far away from doing similar lap times to you on this circuit!
My gear changes would definitely be a factor that would affect my overall speed, and also, I noticed you have balls of steel. I would generally brake a lot lot earlier! lol...

I also noticed that you go flat out through the main straight kink.. yeah, I don't do that either. lolol.

Judging from the Vid Machine posted with Angus in the car...the breaking point for Carousel is the last/second last tire barrier.
Is this a recommendation for "race conditions"?

                            • As said, always find your own braking markers, not someone else's. Everything is a variable so find your limit (car and personal ability) than make marginal changes to see what works. Theres also no point in cooking the brakes on the first corner to have nothing for the rest of the lap. Tyres also go off from over driving, its all about heat management and keeping within that tolerance.

I know there is nothing wrong with the size of my rotors (they are slotted & dimpled now so no gas issues) it's just the pads can't cope with the heat.

So far Hawk Ceramic - fail
                                EBC Red Stuff - fail
EBC Yellow Stuff are in the mail.

These SHOULD cope with sprints/topgear if they still fade I'll just chuck EBC Orange Stuff in there and be done with it.... Hopefully
Of course, you wouldn't suffer brake fade at Happy laps, as you do not go that fast now do you....

As for EBC, avoid their pads, they are not very good. And if your car is your daily, then orange stuff is way too harsh and you would never get up to temp for them to bite properly. Unless you drive like an idiot on the street.

Pagid probably make the best pads on the market right now, with Carbonne Lorainne also getting good feedback. RS4-2 are good for a daily with track use, or RS1-4 for a more agressive pad but again for a daily this would be daft, as urban driving should never garner the necessary temps to get them to optimum. Track / race pads also tend to squeal at low-mid temps, which may be an issue for daily driving, especially for image sensitive individuals.

As for a pad gassing up, this has not been a problem since the eighties. I think you are safe on that front.
