Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Damage is just cosmetic, cleaned it up, replaced the indicator bulb and hammered in the fender a bit and its fine mechanically, just doesn't look so good now. Will just need to replace the fender and bumper and have the corner of the bonnet repaired. On a related note, would anyone recommend a panel beater that does good work at a decent price? Price is obviously a major issue (have next to no money and a tiny income thanks to uni), but I'd rather pay more for a good job than cheap out for an average job.

Thanks Clay! It was interesting how much of a dry (drier?) line was developing in places towards the end.
Bad luck Ben; such a beautiful looking car too - on the upside, looks like cosmetic damage only.
I didn't escape unscathed either - air con was working up until going on the track (turned it off on the track) & then it wasn't working when I went to leave the track. Investigated @ home; copped a stone/stick/whatever through the air con condenser behind the grille. Green refrigerant dye and compressor oil all over the engine bay!Not looking forward to forking out for this one.

Had a great time guys, nice to see some 6R Polos too. Hope things go well for you Ben J, but I think you escaped something much nastier. Good tyres are so important on the older BMWs, I spun my E36 318i thanks to some cheap falken rubber.
Here are my three best laps, things got a little hairy on my fastest one (the first one).

Thanks for great morning, good to chat to a few of you. Ben's incident could have been so much worse, came out all good at the end. Had some good laps, but FWD is starting to annoy me a bit, especially now that I am starting to realise GTI's limits. Top of the track was very slippery this time around. I liked how the chicane was opened up a bit more from last times, just perfect IMO.Current: '11 Renault Megane RS 250 Cup Trophee - Manual - All Options - Stage 1 Bluefin

Thanks to Clay for organising the morning. It was good to meet some of you. Since it was my first Happy Laps I took it pretty easy and after seeing the accident on the first lap I think that made me realise that I was there for a bit of fun and not to test the limit of my car.Hopefully catch up with you guys at the next one.

Heh that's what I'm going to try and convince myself! Got a new fender from a friend, straightened out the bumper and put it all back together, could probably just get the fender painted and some new bumper trims and call it done for now until I can afford to replace the bumper aswell
