Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Yeah thanks for organisizing this clay, even though I didnt even finish a full lap before putting the thing into a wall.
A big thanks to everyone who checked if I was okay, took a look at the car and just generally lightened up the mood. Big thanks to machine as well (sorry again for nearly killing you haha).
Won't be doing another one of these in the wet, but hopefully see you all at the next dry one!Last edited by Ben J; 10-03-2013, 10:55 AM.sigpic

Fingers crosssed it is a simple fix up.
Everyone else seemed to behave themselves pretty well.
Fingers crossed we get a dry one next month.

Also not sure who it was, but someone said they may have got it on video, if you did, I'd love to see the footage!
Damage is just cosmetic, cleaned it up, replaced the indicator bulb and hammered in the fender a bit and its fine mechanically, just doesn't look so good now. Will just need to replace the fender and bumper and have the corner of the bonnet repaired. On a related note, would anyone recommend a panel beater that does good work at a decent price? Price is obviously a major issue (have next to no money and a tiny income thanks to uni), but I'd rather pay more for a good job than cheap out for an average job.Last edited by Ben J; 10-03-2013, 11:22 AM.sigpic

I have heard that Coorparoo Paint and Panel do good work, they should be close to your place?
Otherwise see if there is anyhting in the detailing nad repairs section of the forum.

All the bent stuff would straighten out pretty good IMO. Until you get all the replacement parts sorted out. This is what I'd do if I were you.
I was told once after dropping a motorbike, you have to come off to really appreciate it when you don't.
Don't be too disheartened, it could have been much worse. Ultimately, it'll improve your driving in all conditions.
Gavin
PS Thanks Clay

Cheers Guys, yeah I'll check them out Clay.
And yeah, straightened out the panels myself with a big ****ing hammer, I'll get onto some mates with e30's and source replacement parts and then get them painted up and swap them on. On the plus side it will be a good time to get the sunroof and bootlid painted up as well (previous owner had everything else painted up but those, for some reason...)
Could definitely have been much worse, I'm pretty thankful it wasn't. Have definitely learnt from the experience! Have to take it easy in the wet guys, and make sure you're tyres are up to it!sigpic

thanks clay, was a good morning... having never driven lakeside before was just trying to get some alone space on the track but anyways was fun nonetheless...
Ben J - didnt see what happened but saw the marks and mud, got away pretty lightly i think, shame it happened though but im sure as usually happens with these things the car will be bigger and better once its fixed.

Glad to see you are fine. I was at the back of the pack and didn't know what happened. All I saw was the dirt on the track and the truck on the side.
I hope I got out of the way for everyone. Wasn't very comfortable with TC/stability control kicking in on corner exits. Still had a good time tho and thanks Clay for organising.
