QLD The Reinitiation Cruise - Feb 10th, 2013

So after a little too long away from Brisbane, my car and the VW scene, I'm planning a little (or maybe big) cruise/drive for once I return. This is very similar to the first cruise I ever went on and yes, the round trip from Brisbane will be about 400km but it's definitely worth it.

I'm not sure of the road conditions as it's been almost three years since I was out there last, but it's a beautiful drive with plenty of bends and scenic lookouts on the way. Hopefully the weather is nice and it'll be a good day to remind me what it's like to drive on the right side of the road!

Brisbane to Brisbane - The Looooooooong Route



The proposed date for this drive will be February 10th, 2013 (one week after my return) and the meeting place will be Beaudesert McDonalds (114-120 Brisbane Street, Beaudesert, 4285) at 9.30am for a 10am departure.

This is not a speed run, but a leisurely drive through the QLD/NSW countryside to catch up with you guys. Act like a dick if you must, but expect a told-you-so dance if something totally preventable happens to you or your car.

Dammmn, I really want to do this but that weekend and the weekend after I'm moving most of my stuff from Brisbane to Gold Coast. Probably a no frenchie turnout now haha.

Yaa you're right, that is a nice drive but I mainly wanted to do the Lions Road and see the railways etc. I guess we'll wait and see what people say closer to the day and then we can decide

Hey, I could be up for this for sure.
Probably wont make the start/departing point, but as I live along the route (Uki) I may join in there....
I realize I will miss the most fun part (Lyons road ) but just getting together with others is good enough for me.

Will there be that mandatory stop at the park on The Spit (Goldie) ??? Always a good place to rest and chat.

I've done the drive from Murwillumbah to Kyogle, then back up to Beaudesert via Lions Rd quite a few times. Awesome drive. Lions Rd is a bit rough, narrow in parts and you need to keep an eye out for livestock but a fun road.

Usually organised lunch at the pub in Murwillumbah.

If you want to add some more time, you can head to Murwillumbah via the Gold Coast Hinterland.

The last drive that Steven organised was a similar distance.

Toilets stops will need be looked into as well... there are lack of toilets on the back roads!

I'm happy for toilet stops, food stops and any kind of stop! I'm happy to oblige to anything anyone needs and the wandering livestock adds an element of challenge for the day

I'll make a list of attendees when I come home in a bit, but UHF's are definitely an asset on a drive like this

I think they did. I have a 5L jerry can! That would be enough to get to Kyogle and back?

They do have servos at Murwillumbah and Kyogle.

It's well worth the drive.
