Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

With a head likes yours that'd be a good start to your strategy

I'd been looking for software that can overlay the data pulled from the gtech to put over the video from the gopro. I tried racechrono, but it wasn't reading the csv (raw data files), though found racerender2 which is free for 3min video sessions which is good enough for me to try. So here's 2 laps below. RaceRender seems pretty powerful and can use a variety of camera's to generate the video. Was all quite easy to do, just need to play with the synchronisation a bit to get it right. I only had a quick play for this file just to see how it worked.

Pretty slow through the corners. You can tell because your wheel spins backward...

Haha, I don't have a good come back... Oh but when I do I'm sure it'll be great.

I'm bursting with anticipation. No wait, that's the chocolate shortbread I've been eating.

I like the interface Sean, it's so much more interesting to watch. I noticed the speedo reading only goes to 180 or does it?

The speedo can go too any figure you can to put into the racerender interface. The interface is very detailed and allows for significant customisation, the more I look the more impressive and flexible it is. There's many different screens and all the dials/displays can be moved around the screen. If running with an OBD port, can put a tacho, brake and throttle position in too. To answer you're question, the default is 160, as my top speed was 170 I put in 180 for the speedo.

Might try run the iphone and gopro next time and can than overlap the images, or have picture in picture. Bit of a w@nk for happy laps, but I'm enjoying having a playing with this stuff.
