Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD Renault Car Club Breakfast Happy Laps - Queensland Raceway - 14th October 2012

    Happy Laps Invitation

I posted this event in the Happy Laps v9 thread, but it seems to have been overlooked - hence the new thread.

The Renault Car Club of Qld (they attended our v9 Happy Laps last weekend with their impressive RenaultSport cars) are organising 7am breakfast Happy Laps at Queensland Raceway on Sunday 14 October.

The Renault guys are extending an invitation for a group of 5 cars from VWWatercooled Forum to participate in the event.

For this event, VWWF entrants will be deemed to be RCCQ members and therefore will not have to pay the extra charge for non-members.

The club needs to finalise numbers before this Friday 5th and there are only 3 spots remaining. I can forward details of the first 3 people responding to the RCCQ.

Please ensure before nominating that you are absolutely sure you can attend on 14th.

Details of running of the event would be similar to the recent Happy Laps events in threads on this Forum.

when a RS club invites a german club to play fisticuffs around a track, i dont really think that it would be "happy laps" for anyone in a VAG car, regardless of their "frankenturbo" upgrades which cost twice the price of bigger power upgrades that you'd get for half the price in a mazda 3 mps, for example..........

      not hating or anything....

        No worries Buller.
It's the official name of the event where technically it isn't a race as speeds are limited on certain sections of a track and no PPE gear is required.

Are your brakes solid rotors at the front?

I spoke with BrakesPlus yesterday, I might go see them on Saturday for their input and have spoken with Greg at GSL. I really want a one stop (pardon the pun) approach rather than run around sourcing different gear. They had suggested flushing the fluid after every track event which seems a little extreme unless I'm boiling it each time, which I don't feel I am.

But i'm going off topic here.

For fluid go down and see Steve @PM Lubricants. He will run you through the do's and don'ts and has the best oil that I have come across, also does power steering and brake and trans fluid. I have mates that run it in their speedway cars and we run it in our Type 3 Fastback Club owned car.

Pm me for details or check him out on FB. Great bloke and ever knowledgeable!

How much does the Renault Happy Lap cost? Does anyone know??
