I live 15 minutes from Fairfield Showground. If you want a hostel you are not going to find one near by. Your best bet is to stay at Formule 1 hotel its the cheapest in the area.

If you want nightlife stay in the city somewhere and if you want to be close to the showground and some (rather poor) nightlife stay in Parramatta. I personally would rather stay in the city.

on the other hand,. woot for you and your car being there!!

I'm not too fussed about being in the city and gonig out a getting drinking, since I'm on my P's. So I don't mind where I stay as long as it's cheap, thats why I was asking about caravan parks. WHere is the formula 1 hotel? arn't they near hotels normally?

As for the F1 accommodation :

As for hotels, your best bet would either be one near at Parramatta (somewhere on Church Street near Parramatta Stadium) or Novotel at Homebush, if you want somewhere close-ish. They'd be a lot dearer than F1 though!

So your still leaving the 22nd may to syd be a good chance to meet the syd crew and melbs boys all in one. Would have to get the boat from tassie on the wed and join the road trip from there.

Less than 15 minutes! It's mainly a highway down. I'm sure some of the locals (myself included) can come down and meet the interstaters beforehand.
