so I rang that caravan park thats meant to be real close, and it turns out that it is actually a long term caravan park. hm. who knew! So it looks like the formula 1 motel in Casula will be the way to go, for me at least.
There was another caravan park in Bass Hill, except that was 70 bucks a night! maybe I read that wrong, but damn if it was!
just got through to F1 hotel, $74 p/N for Friday and Saturday, sunday $64 p/N, which makes it a $250 weekend, excluding petrol, and travel requirements, ie redbull and chocolate.
Surely there must be something cheaper? Hec, my car would be cheaper, and probably just as comfy!
theres YHA's around they're only 20-something per night. this one is in glebe (nice place) http://www.yha.com.au/hostels/details.cfm?hostelid=30 traffic wont be too bad as its a saturday. but be warned sydney traffic is always bad

Yea that ones $25 - $28 per night, per bed. for a 5 share room. Maybe we could get a whole room, only prob is tho, it's *IN* sydney, sure only a halfie away from the show grounds (ref. whereis.com) but the fact that's it's in the sydney, and we'll be getting there at night time (when it's dark, doesn't help with not getting lost) and parking may be a bit of an issue.
and. the traffic. sure it's a weekend. But I'd rather not have to worry about traffic and one way streets and stuff as much as possible! just my preference.
surely there must be some pubs out in the suburbs that have "hotels" attached to them? they're generally cheap. and dont' cost too much p/N either.
EDIT: just checked availiablitites for the hostel, on the time we're going. $75 per person, for a 5 share room.
early sunday morning traffic is not bad guys.what id be more worried about is.. parking your dub over night on a major road.. thats if you can find parking..try looking around BASS HILL.there are a few cheapo hotels around there and there is a couple of caravan parks there too... if I remember, ill try and find a couple of names for you travellers!!
someone point me to the closest hotel, cabin.... anything where i can put my bonnet in the room SAFE before the nats.. i dont care about money.. i just wanna have something under $100 a night... i would like something preferably 5-10 min drive away from the showgrounds
guys i live on a double block and have a massive backyard. enough for at least 4 tents and 4 cars probably more like 6 tents 6 cars lol... so anyone's welcome to pitch a tent in my yard and park their car in it. it has a high fence (above head height) with a big heavy gate so yep the offer is there. its in johnson st chatswood.

i was about to say the same thing i live in a quiet st long driveway which could fit ten cars and a backyard you could set up 7 tents and ive offered my carwash services save some money bc by the nats none of you will have enough for petrol
Just might have to take you fellas up on the tent offer. Havn't decided for sure, But i'll keep looking around for some cheap ass hotels, if not - I've always been comfy in a Tent
Smithfield road, fairfield west I believe. I think the closest hotel I could find was in casula (i think) that was the F1 hotel, but that was more expensive than 100 p/n i think. the bass hill caravan park is your next best bet, ranges from $69 to $110 p/n i think. it's in Bass Hill, which is on the HUme hwy, and not too far away. phone is 02 9724 9670.
