Polo / VAG Dyno Day Brisbane, Saturday August 25th

A very respectable result in my eyes.

OK, the official results from the day!
Huge thank you to Guy and James for running an excellent day and putting 17 cars on the dyno! And thanks to Eddy for cooking the snags!
Please note that the results are all uncorrected at the hub figures. These are not flywheel figures. This was not a wheel dyno either so no excuses for strapdown procedures or wheelpressures ..... All runs were conducted in 4th gear.
For information on the Dynapack chassis dyno please see here: Dynapack Arguably the most accurate dyno setup in Brisbane at the moment.
Mods (main components only) indicated here as follows:
Stock = well stock .....
Stg1 = ECU only
Stg1+ = ECU + intake
Stg2- = ECU + intake + exhaust or Intercooler upgrade
Stg2 = ECU + intake + exhaust + Intercooler upgrade
Stg2+ = ECU + intake + exhaust + Intercooler upgrade + Fuelling etc
Stg3 = ECU + intake + exhaust + Intercooler upgrade + turbo upgrade
In the Polo 9N3 Section there will be a full spec list of the GTI Polo's that ran.

I think it may be the fact that the two Stage 2+ S3's were dsg and the stage 2 was manual.Originally posted by Royeee View PostThe last S3 stage 2+ ran 221kw/426NM
Wonder why the stage2+ got less power than the stage 2
Only thing i could think of, because my car is manual and it made more then the two dsg s2+ s3 also.Last edited by Scuby_snax84; 26-08-2012, 04:56 PM.

Also, you had a VMR intake, I think. Worth a few kw extra I believe ....Originally posted by Scuby_snax84 View PostI think it may be the fact that the two Stage 2+ S3's were dsg and the stage 2 was manual.

Hey guys, firstly wish i had a nice set up like that, maybe one day, coupled with 25 yrs exp would be nice, anyway thats me having a pipe dream, anyway great to see the figures and plenty of Vag cars running, must admit quietly i would have liked more 9N3s running but thats how it goes. Some really nice torque figures here especially from standard hairdryers, i get a buzz from that especially when im strapping a JBS04 to my wee rocket. Hey Leitch mate thatll be a good car with an exhaust, hope you put some kss on that clutch
Anthony Nice work , didnt expect any less, can only expect phone calls when the monster hybrid gets finished, then itll be either catch the piston or some whopping figures. Jase Nice torque man, too. Wish i had been there tbh. Nice to see it all went smooth, was looking fwd to seeing the set up
Cheers

Put what I could on it.Originally posted by Jmac View PostHey Leitch mate thatll be a good car with an exhaust, hope you put some kss on that clutch
Got it to 100ish with a good bit of time in the city. Seems to be holding up okay - I told James to take it easy, hah! As if that makes a difference...
Should be good, going to chase up a few more exhaust quotes this week and get something under way.Last edited by leitch; 26-08-2012, 07:00 PM.

the last one have VWR intake as wellOriginally posted by Scuby_snax84 View PostYeah fair call. I know the first DSG Stg2+ S3 had the carbonia but I didnt see the last one. Also the manual Stg2 S3 had the VWR intake. So yeah that would have helped

can't say about the power difference for sure but a DSG is a manual box effectively, just no clutch pedal.Originally posted by Scuby_snax84 View PostMaybe DSG get less power down...? I know with certain model vehicles the auto will make less power then the manuals. Not sure on the VAG family but. Maybe someone else can chime in here.

Glad everyone had a good day, nice to get all the cars through - 5.30 I think we finished
We had a beer at the end and overlayed all the S3 files, they were all really close - the difference being downpipe / full exhaust, intake & intercooler differences (no one had the exact same combination) & yes, the manuals seemed to make a couple more KW than the DSG's! I think thats because you don't have the kickdown point that can interfere towards the end of the run.
Hope somebody got some pictures? I have some of most cars sitting on the dyno, I'll see if they are any good if someone wants to host them.
