Im down! providing I'm not working at the tennis, which is where all my money for my car is coming from!!

I actually went karting last night at auskarts where josh works, and I do recommend that as a full nights fun, but terrorising locals is also alot of fun, and I've never been down to Aurthurs chair fell over; and wouldn't mind discovering a few new twisties...

the restaurant up the top of the mountain there is quite nice and usually deserted in the evening so bookings shouldnt be a prob if thats the option we end up taking. the back roads out that way are more undulating than mountainous but the drive down arthurs seat is sweet as. very twisty bit of road but only a few kms

Thats a good way to look at it James. Ive had my car since new, 5 years ago and now have done 140,000 and im still finding myself learning more about the behaviour of my car. Learn to drive and get a feel for how a car reacts in different situations before jumping into something powerful.

Anyways, back on topic! I'd love to do an all day drive where we meet up when its still dark and drive out of the city when theres no traffic and make it out onto the open road for daybreak where we can pull over and have a coffee and chat as the sun comes up.

hmmm im shocked! an all day cruise is leading the poll at the minute. Thanks for your thoughts FknDubbin. The other people that voted on it can we get some thoughts?
How far are you guys willing to travel? Obviously a cruise like that might scare some people away but then sometimes a small troop can be a lotta fun .

somewhere like wangaratta is a good base to attack the great alpine road. The run up mt hotham is one of the best roads i have ever driven! to get out there and back ud possibly end up driving over 700kms departing from the CBD!!

Id hate to organise a trip like that though if people werent committed enough to come along.

closer destinations may include places like lake eildon or thomson dam.

So yeah. Dont just vote guys. lets hear some discussion

Maybe a comprimise would be in order. Not too short, not too long.

Could l suggest the Grand Ridge Road in Gippsland.

A photographic tour of the scenic Grand Ridge Road along the top of the historic Strzelecki Ranges in Victoria's South Gippsland region.

                Cheers

Ive heard thats a good run. never done it myself. Last i heard there was a lot of it that was unsealed which doesnt sit too pretty with a lot of people though. are u familiar with it?

Also dont take this as we are doing a long cruise. I just wanna get the thoughts from people that voted for that. The poll is still young!

I've only been over the sealed sections. I doubt that l'd be willing to take my car over an un-sealed road, not by choice anyway.

The Grand Ridge Road is fairly narrow and, would need to be treated with extreme care. As a drive, it's fantastic. Windy, twisty, up hill down dale style.
                      The scenery's great too.

I acknowledge that it's early days as far as suggestions are concerned. I just thought it might be helpful to offer an alternative drive that can take a few hours as opposed to an all day job. I agree, Tim, l wouldn't be too keen to go to the trouble of arranging a "high country" trip, only to find a few turn up.

4 - 5 cars justifies a cruise in my view! at the end of the day as we have seen already from the recent events. Its all about the good company and havin a bit of fun.

but yeah let the discussion continue
