isnt half the fun of the day getting there? I'm not quite understanding why people feel they MUST know the destination before hand.
I'm presuming you also read the last page of your whodunnit novels first as well
granted some people can actually join the cruise, but there seems to be some idea that its badly organised?
maybe its exactly what it is - a mystery cruise2007 Audi RS4 with: APR ECU Upgrade; JHM Quick Shifter; Milltek Catback and Downpipes; KW V3 Coilovers; Argon Creative Carbon Fibre Splitters

theres nothing wrong with mystery cruises, poker runs etc if its a localised club event but many seriously have their doubts when its on a scale as large as the german car day.Last edited by Qtip; 17-09-2012, 12:48 PM.

If you have kids or family it's pretty rude of the organisers to make them wait at location of their choosing, to go an undisclosed distance, to an undisclosed venue - with no idea what sort of allowances we need to get back or what facilities are there. Or what they may need on the way ... (try and tell a kid to HOLD-ON for who knows how long).
It's obvious they didn't think this through or didn't care and are only catering for their own little cliché (sans families).
I know families who can only come for 1 or 2 hours ... but how can they organise things if they won't know until the morning of the event?
It's GERMAN CAR DAY = for all (with or without German cars) not a MB club run... this pseudo exclusiveness is what KILLS these things .. not fosters them. People don't like being messed around.
I hope they realise the error of their ways now it's been leaked. Or maybe they didn't want anyone else there?
Perhaps 300+ cars should turn up at the meet point ... an organisers nightmare and then just go home instead.

perhaps, but perhaps the MB club who have organised this felt a secret one was the way to go this year, something a bit different from an ordinary cruise.
Maybe it will fail and it goes down as a lesson to be learned.

German Car Day is not a cruise, it's not even a club event !!
It's an open display (you don't even need to be a club member) for ALL German cars and fans of German cars. As soon as one club places its interests above all others by not working with dealers or the other clubs it loses all sense of comradeship. It smacks of people fulfilling self interests. Any props they get for doing the hard yards and organising these things (and yes I've organised more than 1 national car event before) quickly evaporates with the secretcy approach.
Save these things for club runs, but not a public display event. There are doing no one or the event any favours with the current attitude.

That being said you also had the choice not to look at the location I previously mentioned. Sorry if I ruined your day by mentioning the big surprise...

I agree. A bit. I think saying they are trying to exclude other makes and just out for themselves is a bit of a stretch, although to be honest it is a pretty crappy concept for an event of this kind.
Oh well, it'll work out ok, or not. They'll learn for next time etc etc...
I can't make it to the show coz something has come up, but i'm keen for a Leedy breakky meet???
Just got my stretched G60 wheels on too
