    Fixed it for you.

You can hit the little film strip looking button which says "insert video" and then paste in the link to the the youtube video, or just put tags around the link. Just hit quote this and you can see if you want

    About to watch it now

Good to hear the action from the outside. That's some serious whine from the DS3. Awesome sight with so many VW (and euro's) out there, almost want to watch it from the side line. Turn 3 and 4 are prime examples of slow in, fast out.

Hmm, I had this too, just thought it was getting out of boost, but given I was going back to 3rd it shouldn't have been. Will look into this - thanks Ben.
    Al..
    ps 220, impressive.

i also did a bit of off roading action in T4 on my second lap :p

misjudged the corner and it was a very slippery surface too (thin ice??).

looking forward to the next one

hopefully the Norwell session this saturday will help me learn cornering better
Thanks for coming along Nat - I think that T4 was a vexation for a quite a few. It has a tight entry that opens out on the exit, making it a deceptive corner that looks like it can be taken faster that it should. There doesn't seem to be a natural flow from T4 apex to the ripple strip on the right between T4 and T5 and then onto T5 either, making it a technical little piece of track. It's certainly learn-able though, but it really differs to what I remember last time I was at QR, when it seemed to be more flowing.

Agree with a few of you about LS being more entertaining but learned a lot more about the Devil at QR. Didn't really see any of the off road action, but loved seeing a few sets of brakes smoking like a Bob Marley concert at the end

The Devil held up well and was more challenging this time having the front end braced up harder with the new Wiechers combo and the back stripped out which resulted in some rear sliding fun in turns 3 and 6. My rear tyres are almost shot after the last outing at LS and it showed by the end of the session so I came in a bit early.

Was impressed with the straight line speed of a few cars, Bens R obviously , the fake R32 1.9 TDI which was boosted to all hell and the silver S3. I think there was another white R that was quick too. Cars that disappointed were the Benz and the white EVO but think the drivers may have been taking it a little easy. Cars I want to see but never did are the bonkers Tiggy of Clay and the Fiat 500. Next time then!

Trying to post some footage soon.

    Cheers!
Thanks for coming along! I also did not get to see Clay's Tig or Steve's Fiat on the track, which was disappointing (only saw them in the distance on the other side of the track).

personally i like QR more than Lakeside as i can push a bit harder, feel safer and it's much easier to deal with traffic (whether passing or being passed).

T3 is definitely a PITA. the dirt at apex didn't help. my car held up fine brake wise and i allowed it to cool down every few laps and i let off the throttle early into T3. my biggest problem was actually windscreen fogging up straight after getting on the track. was pretty scary driving blind into T3 for the first time. would definitely love to come back in the future.

lastly, GSL Rallysport is good. they are now based in Acacia Ridge.
Thanks for the info re GSL, and thanks for coming along! Fogged windows would have been scary!

The crazy understeering Type R civic, can be seen at 13:25 in my part 1 of the onboard video. It does it severly in turn 3 and a little in 4/5. The driver did a good save at turn 3 though.

If you can get Formula Ferodo DS2500's, they are also a very good pad, a bit more track oriented than the remsa's, meaning they lack a little feel when cold.
Thanks for the brake info guys!

I witnessed 2 new things yesterday like many others: the snow sign on the dash and oversteer!! And that was with ESP on at that point (T4, 1st lap...).

Whilst Lakeside is by far a more interesting course, I think I actually had more fun at QR. More room for everyone, the track marhsalls were totally relaxed and the bacon was really thick (the last bit's a joke of course).

Rhys did your old man get some photos? Did anyone else? There was a guy from Downshift there at the end taking some photos of the car in the carpark. Sadly he got there just after the happy laps finished otherwise some of us could have been famous.

Did anyone else keep an eye out for their speed down the back straight? I cracked 200 pretty easily, but to be honest I was thinking it would have been more (i've only ever driven the clubman circuit there and just assumed the national track's back straight was bigger than it was). Mind you, watching some in-car footage of the V8s on youtube it seems they only hit 250, so i guess 200ish isn't bad on stock tyres etc. They leave turn 2 at 160km/h+ too which helps!

Oh, and way to go Webber!!

Might see some of you at Norwell next Saturday arvo?

    Andrew
I think a few people were surprised by the Euro snowflake/road ice warning - I was surpised AFTER it came on @ 4 degrees and then the temp reading kept getting lower the closer we got to QR!

    Thanks for joining in!

BTW I noticed a couple of people commenting after the happy laps about my hazards flashing at the end of the back straight at turn 3. The hazards annoys me so much >=( Anyway its some sort of safety feature when the car detects its about to crash or something like that haha.

VW/Audi/Skoda etc have them as well - I have activated mine via VCDS, but there must have a higher activation threshold - the only way I can get the hazards to work under brakes is when the brakes are hammered to get the ABS working.[COLOR="Silver"]

This was my first test with the GTX3071 turbo. Initially had overboost problems where the boost controller would shut down and then not allow me to make boost. Hence some of you would have seen me pulled over.....several times. After turning down the boost i then had issues with the DV leaking (flat spots on gear changes and holding boost). Which will be upgraded this week, i blocked it off last night to see if it was the issue and as i thought it was. Car run perfect with it blocked off (no one try this with your K03,K04)
Glad i put DS2500 pads on the car friday. That with the braided lines and motul fluid works well. Someone mentioned top speed. I saw 220km/h with a safe amount of breaking room. Could be more with a BBK.
Did some 4WD drifting, car now spins all 4 wheels which was fun but not very good on 19's.
Anyway, look forward to the next 1.
Glad to hear you were able to have some fun while carrying out your "research"!

I was pushing my car to its limits and would be lucky if I could hit ~155 on the back straight with its 60kw of 1.8 8v fury haha

Hey mate that's a fantastic picture of the golf there.
I'm guessing you probably didn't get any photos of me because I drive a french car lol (black Citroen DS3). But if you did, when you have the time could you upload picture(s) of it?

No worries; thanks for joining in! There is a little grab of the Honda going hot into turn 3 near the end of Rhys's (The Egg) Video Part 1.

    Regarding to the Brakes:

Does anyone know where I can get brackets made up?? I spotted some of the GTI and S3 have big brakes on it. I got a pair of AP Racing 4 pot here that came off the Lotus EXIGE Cup 240 but I need the brackets to be made. Anyone can point me into the right way??

If you're bored this weekend coming, the annual VW Driving Experience is on at Norwell, so there'll be a handful of Golf and Scirocco Rs going round the track and on the skid pan (Saturday arvo in particular).

Ben - 220 down the back straight is staggering pace considering your car wasn't running as you wanted it to. Got to be happy with those numbers. Just to plant a seed - slicks and a ripped out interior.... you know you want to!

I'm going to try to get out to Lakeside with the Westfield Club for sprints on the 16th, so i'll hopefully see some of you there after your session!
