Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Might be okay for a weekend toy, but I would hate to live with one as an everyday proposition. A Porsche Cayman R on the other hand..... Now that would be more my taste!

Just throwing it out there, but perhaps an idea for the next happy laps day could involve a "late model FWD hot hatch" class of car. For example, we could invite anyone with one of the following cars (forgive me if I've missed any out):
    - Golf GTI/Audi A3 2.0TFSI
    - Mazda MPS 3
    - Astra Turbo/HSV VXR
    - Renault Megane RS
    - Civic Type R
    - Ford Focus RS/ST

I think it would be great to see how our (superior) German hot hatches go against the frenchies and japs. Although as much as it pains me to say, I think the Megane and Focus RS would probably give most of us Golfers a touch up

But its Happy Laps, not racing hence the no protective clothing & helmets... A proper track day is needed for racing. Could organise to all book in for lakeside street sprint series one sunday, 4 sessions for about $150-160 I think

Whilst it is agood idea in theory, as 55ASI has pointed out it is happy laps so you would never get to see how they go comparitively.
Also, about half the cars that turn up to our ones are AWD (mine included) so it seems a bit out of character.

It would also be very difficult to orgnise unless you were on a non-brand-specific website (jdmst/boostloosing) or tried to put it on individual forums.

If you were interested you can always contact QR and see if they can have a half day session (4 hours i think) where you can book it for a group.

Yeah, fair call. The inter-brand rivalry might be a bit much for our over-sized adrenalin glands and under-developed brains....lol

Alfa Giulietta QV but I have seen about 4 of them on the street so it's probably a safe bet that no one with one would be in.

Bit of an update for you all, the cost is now $25 as they are meant to have more food and also inflation etc.............

Those who have queired the use of helmets for safety reasons, QR have advised that as it is Happy Laps, we will not be driving at speeds where a helmet would be of any use and as such they are not permitted on the track.
