  • We were very keen to have some awards that were different from the normal, and a little bit fun. We also didn't want to put too much emphasis on the awards (after all, getting a trophy isn't what it's all about). The peoples choice has been successful in the past, and is a good way to get people involved, and gives the people what they want!

The padded cell was for the craziest car/modifications. George daily's his car, and it's pretty bonkers., so a worthy winner!

The 'car of the show' went to the car that had to have a little bit of everything and was definately a standout. Not only does Troy put in a massive effort when displaying his car, but his car has been very thoroughly and comphrehensively modified, a worthy winner indeed!

We also had a bit of fun with the trophies! Hopefully someone will post pics of them soon! (as I didn't after the were completed), speaking of, where are all the photos! The ones so far have been great!

I understand what you're saying Greasy.

However, if you look at the results, of 7 Trophies, 5 went to GTIs, R32 and RS2. There is a trend.

Anyone who enters a standard vehicle, unless it is 20 years old, has very little chance of success (the other two Trophies going to Mk I Golf).

I'm not saying that those vehicles didn't deserve to win, but it can infer that you can "buy" a Trophy, by having the most expensive vehicle or having the most modifications.

I'm going to the Kaniva Car & Bike Show this weekend, just for something different, possibly because the Feature Manufacturer is Volkswagen. Interesting to note that their judging criteria is similar (although much more comprehensive) to ours and no doubt others. The results are measurable and therefore create a level playing field for all entrants. And I'm sure all the entrants appreciate the Judging Criteria being posted in advance, so you know what you need to do to be successful.

Once again, I'm not criticizing, nor wanting to start a war, just giving my view. This event (together with SEDF) appeals to the members of this Forum because of the different judging criteria, and that's fair enough. There is surely enough room for both types of shows in Australia.

          • If I am right in thing Troy is VWThunder, then he'd win anywhere. I've been an admirer of his car for a long time.

            Congratulations on the Show Stu!

              • Worth every bit Troy. You obviously put a lot of work into the Polo, and it shows. Great taste in your mods.
