NSW VWWatercooled Annual Summer Cruise - Sun 22nd January 2012

It's amazing how quickly that time of year comes around. Who would have thought it had been 10 months already! The date for the event this/next year the day will be Sunday the 22nd of January 2012 so please put this into your calendar.



We have made a bit of a tradition of heading down to Stanwell Park so there is plenty of space, shade and of course the beach. I'm open to alternatives if people would like to suggest an alternative destination, but this needs to be finalised in the next few weeks so the behind the scene work can all be done, if you have any ideas put them up now!

As usual I am looking for some volunteers to help with leading the cruise as well as a couple who don't want to cruise and would like to come down to Stanwell Park early to help setup the marquees, BBQ and all that.



The official route for the day is going to be a simple one:

Down Campbelltown Road/Hume Highway and through to Appin, from Appin to Bulli Pass then down and onto Lawrence Hargrave Drive across the Sea Cliff Bridge and into Stanwell Park. The trip is ~67km and should take ~1:15 if you drove it alone or a little longer as a group.

I would suggest a quick stop in Appin to re-group (Park Opposite Appin Public is nice and easy to get at).

At Stanwell Park there are two carparks, either off Station Street or Park Parade, either is fine:

Happy to lead or help in any way. However, if we are leaving from uncle Leos diner, we are going south on M5 not North.
Not doing the route we did the last two years as it was disorganized madness.
I reckon go from uncle leos down Picton rd and through the forest to Stanwell Park. National park is always busy and cop infested anyway. Citysiders can go home that way.

I know im not an active member of VWW but Ive lurked here since 2008 since I bought my Jetta. Just havent posted as much as I have in the "other" forum.

Went northbound through the National Park late Sunday arvo, stuck behind a Hiace for the first third and an old goat in his Dunnydore for the last third. In a word, frustrating!

lol last time i went to this cruise, me and blitzen were stuck behind a hiace as well. the guy was trying to push it but man that thing was slow. ruined most of the fun bits of road for us.
