I think we should have a meet like on the first monday or wednesday of every month so it isnt so often.

Or maybe we should just go to euro meets more often they would like the watercooled cars.
The club only meets once a month, on the second wednesday of the month. It's not all that often. We understand people have other commitments, that's unavoidable. Not everyone can make it up from the Gold Coast, Sunny Coast etc. It's hard for us some times just coming from Ipswich. Not to mention night workers and night classes.

There's unfortunately a lot of political red tape we have to get through when organising events and stuff. But, if the water cooled people feel they are under represented in the new and improved (?) VW scene, all we can do is try to rectify that by providing them with more opportunities to display their beloved cars. Nothing at all wrong with that.

We're happy to take all suggestions for new events. All ideas can only be good ones. We do have email addresses or PMs you can contact us on if you want to give us your thoughts. We'd definitely welcome them all. We just need someone, or a group of people, to get the ball rolling.

brimway, i cant tell if you understood my point or completely missed it by quoting me...

point was that the categories were roughly even in expected numbers of entrants going for best _________ respectively.

when more show up consistantly and theres a sponsor - thats not a conflict of interest to another sponsor - to cover the cost of having the category/trophy we will do it.

same kinda issue with the motorsport i want to get going, not enough demand/interest from the club to justify the financial risk involved.

and if anyone says that there should of been a best standard & best modified for each type of golf, jetta etc there still... for that to happen pretty much every 2nd entrant would end up with a trophy. if thats what you want just buy one for your car
        - if you still think that should be the case, should older models be given the same options? whos going to sponsor 100 classes?

          That's the spirit.
Happy to say something but don't want to do anything.
Myself and VR6Pitcrew make the trip up each meeting, it isn't a hundred million miles away.
Pre meet is always fun as well.

We have been members of the club for just over a year, the reason we joined was to integrate Aircooled & Watercooled into one awesome VW community, and focus on making a stand for the VW Brand
The most important thing I have learnt in the time I have been a member is that change takes time and commitment, but it can and does happen.
Now is the time after this years show to work on changes for next years show to make it bigger and better, Action day was originally all Aircooled and in the two years we have attended the Watercooled entrants have grown considerably and will keep on growing, and by attending meetings slowly awards & categories etc will change with the numbers.
I am having the opposite problem organizing the Oxenford Show, i have majority watercooled, and am having a problem attracting aircooled entrants.
I also believe that a show should not be all about winning a trophy, it should be about, just showing off your beloved car to other enthusiasts that appreciate the hard work, money & passion you have put into that car, its also about uniting as a VW community and having a fun day, and lastly about showing the public the amazing history of the VW.
At the end of the day every car entered is a winner

Yes, all the regular people (7 of us) still outnumbered probably 3 - 1 by the aircoolers.........
Not so much abad thing for me but if we want to get the watercoled scene growing and to get them to push for more awareness of us we need to get more people to join and go to the meetings to give input.

Nice work nominating for the web James.

see why i mentioned when the meets are? - open invites!

shame nobody else came from here, cant say im overly suprised, could of learnt a little & volunteered to make a difference on next years committee...
seems my posts are rather justified, ill give it another month or so before someone else in qld complains they arent represented have no events etc etc etc then follows it with zero actual effort.

of the few that do show up regularily and give input - its appreciated, cheers guys
