24/09/2011 (Saturday) Winton Timed Track Day

Wish I hadnt been so busy and could have got my tires done as the rear camber has killed the passenger rear but should still be a fun day for spectating. Will be bringing the camera although I havent used it for some time so may need a little practice to get some nice shots.

We still meeting at the shell? How many for the cruise up?

No confirmation email from Mr Ronke to me, either but that ain't gonna stop me driving up (or getting on to the track).

First the cars that ran. This was my first time trying to photograph motorsports so while they arent framing quality they look ok.

kaanage mid way through t3, was funny as hell watching this little TDI frustrate much faster cars that couldnt hold the same corner speed and had to spend 1 or even 2 laps passing him. 1:53.0720

Next jasonc23 in the Polo GTI, this was damn quick for a little car. 1:47.1670

rvan.lim in his Golf GTI, he had much more fun after I told him that while taking this pic I could hear the ESP going off... turn that off for grins. 1:55.7440

The RS250 cup, didnt actually catch this guys name but really nice car. 1:50.3370

Random guy that wrecked his bonnet by not making sure it was down before leaving the pits, made me lol.

This car got written off towards the end of the day, I didnt get any pics of the damage as the camera was put away by then but it was on a trailer and the owner must have been very upset as it was a lone spin into a wall.

Not in our group but a nice car, not as fast as I thought it would be but was probably the driver.

The fastest car of the day, bloody insane volvo.

Almost forgot this one... driving the wheels off an old rs2000.

Here are the overall timing results and the individual lap splits.

It was a great day aside from the sign in queue being so slow that I missed my 1st session + loads of traffic from so many entrants (plus the dent I picked up while trying to pass a couple of the falcadores )
The Z4 driver and passenger were both OK from the crash but the car looked a writeoff

rvan.lim's mate in the RS250 was Max Lee

Congrat to all the other runners for being 1st timers willing to check the limits of their cars - especially to jasonc23, really jealous of your speed
