  • VIC 24/09/2011 (Saturday) Winton Timed Track Day

Hi Guys, just wondering if anyone is keen for another watercooled track day at Winton.

I'm thinking of going up and want to see if anyone else is interested. Being a Saturday, it probably won't be practical to drive up the day before and stay in Benella.

    Here are the details:
Entry Fee: $160 Including Electronic Timing
Spectators are more than welcome, and there is no cost to come and watch. Also you can go for a ride in the cars but you must sign on with a Passenger indemnity first. Due to the amount of passengers at previous events our insurer has put a small levy on passengers of $20. You can just pay this when you sign the forms at the Scrutineering office.
The day will kick off when scrutineering starts at 7:30am. You will need to do your paper work at the scrutineering office before you have your car checked. Please make sure you have removed all loose items from inside the car.

    YOU WILL NEED:
Long sleeve and long pants of non flammable materials i.e. No Nylon
AASA license which can be bought on the day for $50 (these last for 12 months) or CAMS L2S
    Closed footwear
Helmet that complies to Australian Standards (has ASA or Snell Sticker)
Car needs to be in a good condition, no oil leaks, no loose items in the car and battery secure.
    Good condition tyres
Working seatbelt (give it a pull and make sure it locks)

    On board
    Me - Polo 9N3 TDi
    rvan.lim - Golf MkV GTi
    rvan.lim's mate - Renault Megane RS250 Cup
    jasonc23 - Polo 9N3 GTi

    Maybe
    GolfMan - Polo 9N3 TDi
    DeKay - Audi A3 8P 2.0T

    Spectating
    nightphotographer - Polo 9N3 GTi
    Buller_Scott - Polo 9N3 TDi
    Gti Dave - passenger
    Coralon - 2003 Bora 4Motion

    Out
    bluefrog - Golf MkVI R
    DNA Tuning - Audi S4
    pauld - Golf MkIV R32

Even stock, your car is way faster than my Pod was with stock tyres when a bunch of us did the Queen's Birthday track day.

Once you have some cash, just do it. The "my car needs mods before it can track" notion is silly - the track is where you learn what needs modding the most. And you get to tune what is almost certainly the slowest component in the car - you - and have the most fun legally possible with clothes on.

The only real exception is track tyres - semislicks won't tear up like road tyres so grab a cheap set of rims on eBay (15" is fine and 16" is ok - you'll struggle to get semislicks to suit a Polo on a 17" rim)

Anything can run that meets the regs - Adam Ronke will be glad to take your money.
Nothing to do with me but I love performance cars that actually get used rather than just poncing about the 'burbs

how busy will the day be?
is there a limit to the number of cars on track?

first timer.... so i hope i am not creating any danger..
