MELBOURNE MONTHLY CRUISE - First weekend each month!
Did we drive the exactly route on page 1? I seem to recall we went a slightly different path (i.e. I saw a sign that said we went on Old Healsville Rd). Would someone be able to put up the route we took onto google maps so I can put it up as a suggested cruise on OzMPSclub.com and hopefully drive it again soon?
Cheers
Stewart
(The Velocity Red Mazda 6 MPS)
bloody awesome day gents, thanks for coming out ... Stewart unfortunately the road that goes from Kinglake to Healesville forks into two different options - both signed 'Healesville' just to make it easier - at the first T intersection that we came to driving out of Kinglake. The other road (C724 on the map on page 1) is much twistier and had less traffic last time. I won't say who was leading at the time .. all I'll say is that they were driving a blue Audi .. hehehe just joking, John the sound your Audi makes gets me horny
I liked Stu's suggestion that we do the route backwards, maybe starting from somewhere like Knox shopping centre, and also possibly starting earlier next time to avoid the tourist masses. There's an alternative route from Kinglake back to Melbourne which could be an option too.
I'll put my pics up soon.
ps. there's no such thing as crashing a cruise (well .. maybe if it was a bikie gang's cruise), the more the merrier I say

ok, just for something different for all the hill-whores out there to try, I've updated the route for Sunday 6 November. All roads are sealed.
Starting point is now Knox shopping centre, and we'll meet up slightly earlier at say 8am, departing at 8:15am. If you miss the meet, just head to Gembrook and you'll find us all in a carpark on the west side of the train station.

on the topic of exhaust notes .. the look on a few of the locals' faces as John's beast and the two R32's went past on Sunday was absolutely priceless!!

That's basically the Polo cruise route that we did on Sept 3rd, put together by gavs. It's good but can get crowded as the weather gets better. Get going even earlier if possible.

never know delxa you might be lucky and get it in time, I'll give you a 60/40 chance ; )
John I think I'll need to do this one in the R and enjoy wonders of AWD .. also I just had whiteline bushes installed on the R and can't feel a damn thing different so far, so this next cruise will still be in the R but hopefully with better cornering speeds
at least by December I'll have the Octavia's stock wheels replaced for the full black on black

The last turnout was amazing, and everyone was as keen as each other when it comes to attacking those hills; and it looks like we're generating more interest - looking forward to the next one! The new route looks good too, and I will have my GPS next time so I don't mislead people, ha.
Todd, the swaybar will be noticeable when you start loading the car up with lateral G's; it will be more crashy when cornering over bumps and so on but the benefits are worth it.
Just a thought for the November cruise .. the Targa High Country is on the same weekend around Mansfield and Mt Buller. Those that are keen to check it out can head to Mansfield once we get to Marysville (1.5hr drive).
We would need to get to Mansfield before 12pm cause the road up the mountain closes between 12 and 5:30pm. The targa cars then line up at the base of Mt Buller and go up one at a time at 30sec intervals, which provides a steady stream of cars for at least 1 hour, possibly 1.5hrs, up near the finish line at the top of Mt Buller. Apparently they're typically doing excess of 200kph as they pass the buller carparks.
If there's enough peeps interested we would change departure to 7:30am (meet at 7:20) and remove Olinda/Monbulk from the route to make sure that we get there in time.
After the Sunday race all the cars drive through the village square for the ceremony (v's Saturday where they all line up along Summit Rd for spectators to walk past and drool over)
