I have to agree that Winton is a tad slow, they have such a good track and Banella is a fun place they just need to move into modern times.

I'll come Sunday as well for sure; would be nice to head out bit earlier though, like say just after lunchtime, so we can have some daylight hours left to check out surrounding areas there before night time sets in.

That is precisely WHY they get away with being such a bunch of slackers.

We're planning to leave around 2pm at this stage (meeting somewhere at the start of the Hume). The others want to leave before lunch but I owe my family that extra bit of time

It's all good, Adam has gotten back to me.

Just watched some videos of Winton as I have not driven there before; looks so windy - I'm going to be so slow in my boat.

The old part of the circuit is fantastic for small, light vehicles and flows beautifully. The new part is just three 90 degree bends joined by 2 longish straights and 1 little one - BORING.

I wish they would just run the short track (ie not use the new bit) but they only do it for specific track bookings

The left hander onto the new section is tricky to get spot on.

The flatness of the circuit at that area means there aren't many visual references so it's easy to go too deep there (plus you're braking off the old back straight and wanting to hold speed for the 1st new straight so you want to maximise corner speed). Better to lose a bit of time on the approach to the entry than blow the exit.

Doesn't make up for the rest of the new section and doesn't compare to the dogleg off the old back straight on to the old start/finish (the dog leg from the new start finish to the old one is pretty good because it's mainly the old circuit).

Despite my bitching, Winton long track still has it all over Sandown, especially for little, light cars. Too bad you can't make it Jarred - it'd be nice to have another tractor out there
