I'd be keen for this show Dom but I'd agree with Walshy in saying that perhaps the numbers wouldn't be there for a purely watercooled-vw show. Our meets go quite well and they're multi-make but even those don't have enough numbers (in my opinion) to warrant all the effort on your behalf for a show quite yet.

What are you coming up here to do? Holiday or work? It would be cool if you're up the week of the meet and come check it out and say hi.

As per madglf3 and walshy etc. The scene is just not there. The monthly meet thing is working ok at the moment, 20 VWs or so does not a show make.
Would be nice though, when I had the .:R, I always wanted to take it to shows like this.
      Cheers,

Be nice to see something like this happen.

The Aircooled Dubs by the Pub event can draw in the numbers. Yearly known event.
Sure that didn't start out with lots and lots of people.
But as events take hold and grow more will come next time. It's just the first couple that are always the worrying ones.
No real regular meets or monthly get togethers but come show time get some numbers.

A show will probably attract far more people then the meets, like people from all over QLD who cant justify travelling a few hours for a small meet, and even people from interstate But yeah maybe the scene isnt big enough up here yet to warrant a big show yet, I've seen like 2 VW's in toowoomba that have had any real modifications done haha, and even then they where less then fancy.

But the show could only help the scene grow up here, first year would be pretty small i guess.

            Lets be positive

Tend to agree with most of whats been albeit pretty negative. A mate attended last euro meet and said that it could have been better organised.

Suggestion - Nominate a point or a particular car that stands out (say team_v Tig) as a spot where new dubbers can introduce themselves and get things going.

Who knows about big event, it could be a success, afterall there are heaps of VAG in Brissy and sth east qld.

Great points... As a new Dubber I saw at the last euro meet that it was sparatic. If you know what I mean.
This one i'm erecting a Marquee thingy. BBQ, and Esky's if you all want to bring them along too . I have been trying to get to as many events and meetups as I can. I even went to Harry's on Thurs Night and only saw 2 VW's apart from mine... One just drove straight thru.

I'm keen to get this event and show happening. The more info the better I believe. And as for not being enought VW's in Brisbane.... WTF.... There are plenty I run a Servo and I can tell you that I see no less than 20 VW's a day. Golfs Jetta's even Caddy's.
You just have to arouse Peoples interest in the club and advertise.

Granted I don't know too much about VW's But I appreciate them and want to know more and learn hence why I'm here. I want to evolve and have fun with like minded people. And show off my car. I do it for myself but for others pleasure too. The gratification you get from people swooning around your car asking questions and getting ideas and them suggesting better ways or ideas for improvement, there is nothing better that I have found (YET). I think the Show is a great Idea.
Wouldn't be too hard to have a digital pre entry and even voting system. How many people have smart phones that they can text a vote too? Or a few basic terminals that you can set up. As for Judging time. 2-3 is quite reasonble. And when you get to the mass volume of cars at a show you need that extra time to make sure everything is sorted and done properly.

Well that is my little rant for Saturday let me know what you think and here is the link for the Euro Meet #3

I see plenty of VW's about but the majority of owners see their VW as just their car and not a lifestyle or car to be taken to a show. Of the 20 you see a day, how many or modified & how many are driven by middle aged men/women who only own the car because it was a better drive than the alternative Toyota?

I do really like the idea of a QLD VAG show (i miss the show scene that was so big in the UK) i would relly support and spread the word about a show but i just think the 'scene' up here needs a bit more time to develop.

                            At the same time?

What about having a show on the Central Coast of NSW, that way it would be a good distance for QLD & NSW cars...

There is already a show that's about halfway between the two cities, I think it happens in August or September.

I'd be more than happy to help out with the organisation, we can't let someone from Melbourne do all the work without knowing the area or facilities.

Can I suggest (and I'm putting the armour on) that we have a joint show including both Euro and JDM cars? It'd be a good way to up the numbers and get the word out.
