  • QLD Possible VAG Watercooled Event? Interested in seeing something like this?

ive been having this idea in the back of my mind for months now.....

but before i actually go ahead with anything solid, id like to get a feel for what the QLD boys would think if they had a yearly VAG show up in QLD?

im talkin, official.... once a year, trophies, merchandise, advertising, music the works.....

who'd be up for coming to a show similar to South East Dub Fest?

The VW Club of QLD do something like this every year, called action day. While its usually attended by the air cooled guys there was a good number of water based boys this year.

Your going to have to work hard to find a suitable spot, and then cater it. Still I'd love to see it happen!!

the only issue i would have right now would be to locate a spot for the show, which if i actually look hard enough, would be fairly easy
as for action day, this wont have any aircooled cars, the show would strictly be watercooled VW's and Audi's

entertainment, trophies ect can be taken care of.... ill see how SEDF 2011 turns out, then if im happy, ill be willing to branch off to interstate and see how the interstater's roll!

The VW Action Day was awesome last year. The aircooled people did a great job.

The only thing with that event and other car shows is that award presentations are always too late in the day. By then everyone's sunburnt and over it. These events should run from 9-12 or 1 in my opinion.

well the way i do it at SEDF is basically, we leave the entrance gates open for people to submit their cars into the show to be judged untill 12pm, otherwise youll have people who turn up later than usual that will possibly miss out on their cars being judged, and we have to hear that "constructive criticism" as well but after the show is over... SO, 12pm we call everyone who has vote cards to submit them in, we give them 20min untill we close the submission, it usually takes just over an hour to calculate ALL the votes and the rest is presentation time. usually 2:30-3pm the presentation is over and whoever will stay afterwards.... will stay

but at the end of the day, SEDF and this show that ill be thinking of doing, isnt really about trophies, but the scene and the people who's involved in VAG cars.....
if you come to SEDF for JUST trophies, your missing the point of the show

If I went for trophies, I'd leave disappointed every time.

People (and I) want to see trophies given out though, and 2 in the afternoon is just too late. Entries should close at 9.30 for those serious enough to be judged.

And like you siad, those that want to stay will stay.

so explain to me how you fit over 150 cars through the gates with 2 girls at the gate greeting everyone, categorizing everyone's cars, numbering them , handling cash and making sure the entry runs smooth in 30min? if you can figure that out you can have my job we have 4 people going at once calculating thousands of votes, this stuff takes time, and as i said, what about the people who turn up late, for any decent reason and misses out, for example, a guy who's come from interstate, cant find his way to the show on time because he is lost? gets there 10am for his car to be judged and misses out? you tell me if thats fair?

when theres an issue and you solve it, there's always going to be another one right after it

also if all or most car shows have judging around 2-3pm, dont you think there's a reason for that? its obviously hard work to calculate thousands of vote's and that doesnt take 30min
