Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VWWatercooled Annual Summer Cruise 2011 Wrapup (including photos)

Here is the place for all the wrap up and photos.

A big thanks to Car Care Products who supplied the marquees for today's event, on a day like today you need all the shade you can get! Also a huge thanks to Peter (Highlander) who came down early with me to drag all the stuff out and get it setup. Couldn't have done it without him.

A fantastic turn out of people this year, by the sounds of it the drive down was fun (such a shame to miss it, but I suppose someone has to set it all up). On arrival the BBQ was cranked, cold drinks handed out and a good time had by all.

Hopefully someone got some photo's of some of the watercooled vehicles on the run too

Thanks to Aaron and Matt for org'ing today, and for picking a fantastic day weather wise (does the crystal ball work for finance as well).

I didnt take any pics, but I had a lense or two point at me thru the day look forward to thise pics.

Pedro and I got a bit of traffic back thru the RNP on the way out, along with 2 highway patrol cars , and 2 more rushing in with lights/sirens blazing as we got to the exit, hope it wasnt any of our crowd!

Cant wait for the next cruise day!

I'm headin' out soon, but I had a quick look at some of the shots I took. Some of my favourites:

      More to come tomorrow.

A huge thank you to Aaron for taking the van and bringing EVERYTHING down for a great BBQ. Having to keep the VR6 in the garage, wake up early on a Sunday and set everything up, it was definitely a big sacrifice I would find extremely hard to take. Today wouldn't have been if it wasn't for him, so thanks

The cruise was great due to the fact that the majority of those that started out at Uncle Leo's were still together by the start of RNP. There were plenty of traffic lights breaking up the convoy but we all managed it. Brenton, Brenton's brother and Matt made sure of that, so thanks

There were a number of VWGolf.net guys there too, which was great to see. Always good to have people of common interest come together.

On the way home, we drove by no less than four Ferraris, a Dodge Viper and a insane XU1 Torana. 3rd gear tyre marks? Yes please.

Anyway, it was good to meet some new faces and reacquaint with old ones. Turnout was down from last year but there were still at least 20 cars. Hope everyone got home OK!

The cruise was awesome up to start of RNP, after that we were separated into small group to the destination, still great fun though.

First of all, a big thanks to Aaron for organising the event.

I got back through the RNP safely with the guys in the Burgundy VR6 and White R36 (sorry, didn't get your names).

Passed the before mentioned police cars with lights and music on and the three h'way patrol (one who had pulled over a bloke on a bike who looked rather nervous) as well.

Aww crap. I had this marked in the diary for next weekend. What a complete idiot I am.

Looks like a great day. Kicking myself now.

And how did I spend today? Buying a bloody rug for under the dining table.
