Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I agree with ssman and in response to the outrageous prices, a simple and easily demonstratable example would be the price of the ko4 turbo kits and the 4bar fuel pressure regulator e.g. $50usd compared to.....wait for it..............$195aud????? Even considering low exchange rates a while back, its still more than triple the price. Even if you factor in shipping, its still more than double the price. No way would I consider getting that upgrade for full APR Aust's RRP. On the other hand, a discount of 20% at the very least, would I consider going for the upgrade and even then, its still a little more than getting it directly from APR USA or their dealers especially when on special. Only diff is the local warranty.

On the other hand and to be fair to APR as a whole despite our disputes with its aussie pricing structure, it is a decent product which has given me much joy in my pog. Hence, I'll consider buying more products from this brand if I get another VW or maybe Audi but definately a vehicle model that is sold in the USA so parts are easily sourced at more competitive prices. Not to mention the wider variety of cools parts. Maybe i should've got the R32 when I had the chance.

Anyway, I guess I've already spent more than enough on upgrading the pog as it is, so I guess its time to stop and save up for the next car. Golf R perhaps? If so, then at least expensive upgrades from paying more than what I have to would be a thing of the past (provided the AUD keeps its value). LOL...

I guess this could go on for a while and everyone has their own opinions and views so I'll just leave it at that. I still wish I was able to go on the open day though to meet some you guys. In the end, instead of spending a wad of cash on the pog, my wife took my wallet on a detour and spent my wad of cash (although limited) on a burberry handbag (damn those things are expensive).

I'm sorry we couldn't please everyone. I believe some people took advantage of the sale to order parts (like K04 kits for Polo?). Still had people rocking in well after 3.30PM so we didn't actually finish until after 6-00.

Anyway, I think most people who attended had fun, regardless of if they were there to buy something or just have a look around in general.

I beleive you get what you pay for.
Check out "in person" what an Xforce actually looks like and how they are made. Look at its general quality.
Dont forget also that pretty much most "cheap" Xforce systems are notstainless steel!

Yeah sure there are products out there much cheaper to cater for the "cheap charlie" buyer. Tight asses basically.

If you can't afford the "good gear", then by all means the cheaper has to do.

I run a business also. There are always some people that think a product shouldn't cost as much as it does. There are also others that understand the particulars about what they are buying and sometimes even surprised at how cheap it is. Give some consideration to the amount of effort that some companies put into designing, testing and manufacturing products for the local market, the materials used and labour. Reputation and support are also a factor, as if the product doesn't do the job.. their reputation suffers. If it's a nitch market where there is no competition, that's probably because the market for it is quite small to start with... and the price tag will have to reflect it in order to make it viable for a business to support.

If the price is too high, they won't sell enough and the price will be reduced. If they can't reduce the price, then it may get taken off the market. If there is overseas competition, then customers will order from overseas. It's quite a tough market sometimes!

Otherwise, if the price is too high, then wait for the market to force them to drop the price, or keep an eye out for specials. That's exactly what I did for the stage 1 upgrade... although it was a nice surprise it happen mid-Nov, as I'd already conceded that I'd have to wait until Dec for such a sale

Precisely my point, Xforce have not spent the money to develop a system for either a Polo or a R. Talk about comparing apples and oranges.

Silly me, I thought his issue with APR was about price.

Wait a second are you talking price or are you talking quality here, I think that you must be confused since you have made the the statement about price and quality.

My ss exhaust 3" all the way back was $800 + 100 cell cat $200 and I was there during the build and I can say that it would be as good as any apr made system. Tight ass no, just a little smarter.

Agree, you usually get what you pay for and funny people cheap out after paying 60-70k for a car.

Custom jobs are hit and miss, and often not any cheaper but nothing stopping people giving it a go or going with a cheaper exhaust that may drone etc.

                              Good grammar too..
