  • NSW Wakefield Park Track Day 2010 (16/7/10)

    Update 14/7/10

    Hi All

    If you're anything like me, you're counting down the sleeps to track day (Only 2 more sleep!!!)

    Wakefield has been paid & everything has now been fine tuned

    The Cafe will be open for us through the day, so it won?t be necessary to bring a packed lunch or leave the track to grab a drink etc. Hopefully Wakefield's photographer will make an appearance as well so photo's of individual cars or all photos from the day can be purchased.

    For those of you who do not hold a current CAMS license or Wakefield License, you will need to purchase a Wakefield License on the day. Costs are as follows:

    One Day = $20.00 inc. GST

    One Year = $50.00 inc. GST

    As Wakefield is one of the most (If not the most) accessible tracks in NSW, I would suggest picking up a one year license as realistically... You'll be back

    As with all track days, you will need to insure you have the following:

    * Long pants & long sleeve shirt.
    * Enclosed shoes.
    * ADR approved helmet.

    If you do not have a helmet, you can rent them from Wakefield on the day for $20.00 with either a $50.00 bond or license held as bond. Limited stock / sizes are available so best to make yourself known should you require this.

    We will have the track from (9:00am - 4:00pm), so it is imperative that you all arrive prior to 8:30am to allow us all enough time to sign in & go through driver briefing which will commence at 8:30am - EVERYONE MUST BE PRESENT FOR THE DRIVER BREIFING. Even if you a seasoned track goer, briefing is very important as each track day operates slightly different. We will also be sorted into the groups at the conclusion of the breifing.

    We will be running in 4 groups in 15 minute sessions from 9:00am. As we have timing, passengers are not allowed. However, around lunch time, we plan to have 1-2 sessions (1-2 hours) where we will not be timed to allow us to take a passenger out for a blast. We can add more on the day if need be as well.

    Spectators are more then welcome on the day, but should you be taking happy snaps, please insure you have the driver's / owner's permission before posting on forums etc.

    As per last year Mr Smythie will be looking after the track marshalling & it is important to pay attention to him throughout the day. Will we also had a representative from JSCC (CAMS affiliated car club) who will be assisting Mr Smythie. No funny business will be tolerated during the day & be aware that Wakefield staff will be observing the event & can exercise their right to remove anyone from the track.

    Oh, & just to keep you hanging around, thanks to Rod (Roddez) we have organised a few trophies to be awarded at the days end.

    I think that's got us covered for the track formalities Now to the social event that is Friday night!

    A few of us are staying down on Thursday & Friday nights. If you wish to join us, please shoot me a PM & I will give you the hotel details etc.

    We are also going out for a nice steak dinner (Restaurant has been booked) on Friday night, followed by a drink or two (Or 20) at the local pub. Those who were at this after track event last year will tell you it's a great deal of fun. I would encourage one & all to join us as it is a fitting way to close a great day of fun. So if you're keen, please send me a PM so enough tables can be made available.

    If anyone has any questions or queries, please post or send me a PM. Should there be any delays with your arrival at the track day, please insure you give me a call or send me an SMS so we are aware of the situation (Please PM me if you do not have my mobile number).

    Cheers & get pumped for track day guys & girls!

            At the moment, we have the 20 people that the day was originally capped at...

            If you are interested & are able to attend, please post your interest or PM me... If there is enough interest (Seems to be the case so far) I will open the day to a total 28 car / drivers.

            There has also been a great deal of interest & timing... I shall confirm these costs & fingers crossed everyone is keen for it... It's something we didn't have last year & I'm keen to get it over the line this year.

            Edit (20/4/10): It would appear I can't count Currently have 19 spots filled... But it's looking promising that the numbers will be pushed up over the original 20 car / driver cap.

                  Ok guys & gals... Have looked into timing again for this years Track Day.

                  Based on 20 cars / drivers pricing including timing is $295.00 (Plus Wakefield License should you not already hold one). The reason the cost is so high is for the following reasons:

                  1.) An ambulance is required for timed sessions (Or sessions of more the 20 cars / drivers) - This charge has gone up in the last 12 months

                  2.) The tower must be hired for timing.

                  3.) Timing equipment & operator must be hired - This charge has gone up in the last 12 months

                  It is a fair jump in price to have the service, but from everyone I've been in contact with regarding this day, everyone is keen... I'm one of them

                  So if you are currently attending the day, or are keen / able to attend (Still looking likely the numbers will be pushed up to 28 ) please have your say either in this thread or via PM...

                    * Bump *

                    Numbers will be increased to a maximum of 28 cars / drivers in an attempt to keep costs down as timing seems to be a favourite.

                    For info, if we do get approx 24 cars / drivers (Or more hopefully) costs inc timing will be approx $250.00

                    So common peoples! Want to get more VW's on the track then last year!

                        3-4 people is about right.
                        Everyyone likes to talk up their mods etc but put on a Track Day and they run a mile.
                        Usually have to vacuum the budgie's cage that day,or blow-dry the cat,but they'll definitely come to the next one!

                          By the looks of things, you may be right mate Won't pretend I'm not disappointed... Especially after the great turn out we had last year.

                            Thanks for bringing this to us again Matt. its a shame to see so few Euro's on the list...

                            Oh well, I guess the little Polo will have to rep for the VW crew, who wants to sponsor me some slicks so I don't get my ass handed to me?
