i like the sounds of the BBQ, if everyone threw $10-$15 at golfer (john) to get a suitable amount of foods it shuold be fine? it would be a far better sociable experience as apose to a pub where we're all seated . . .

Personally i think a sausage sizzle or something like it would suffice. Not sure what everyone else thinks though. NIce cheap and easy. Sausages, bread and butter (buttering could be done before hand) onion and sauses. Cans of drink also would be a good idea.

Just stumbled across this drive and looks like it could be fun. June is a far way off but free as far as i know. Might just be a good time to flaunt the mighty mk2

Whats everyone think about the sausage sizzle idea.

The only danger is that some will eat heaps and others hardly at all. From that perspective $10-15 is an awful lot for 2 pieces of bread and a sausage. Another concern is that there may be a heap of left over food. What to do with it if that happens? I really have warmed to the idea of a communal meal at the beach/near the ocean. Is there nearby fish & chips shop or some other "take away" that we can hit and then just all eat together at the beach/park? Just another idea if the BBQ idea looks too hard to organise.

Another last minute thought is that (and believe me I've seen it happen) at the last minute some won't want to eat BBQ or will get something else, thus causing uncooked (and unpaid for) sausages. Where does that leave the guy who bought them all? I just don't want to see anyone left out on a limb.

There is a fantastic fish and chip shop in Chinderah (near Kingscliff) on the banks of the Tweed river, right across the road from the park...

I never thought of that before - might be a much better idea! I'm pretty sure they do hamburgers and such for those who don't eat fish...

What's everyone think? Much much easier than the BBQ, and we still have the social/communal meal, and it's a nice little park with good views right on the river. Parking shouldn't be a huge problem...
