Thanks Maris. Being a judge was a bit of an eye opener as far as what the comp is all about.
Good to meet you to Lorenz. I'm up for another meet for sure.
Josh's Polo was actually pretty good considering that it had just come from Melbourne and hadn't been washed too thoroughly.
The judging standards are only one way of looking at a car. Plenty of nice cars that wouldn't win a show prize.
And whose van had the train horn? A real head-turner, that one.

"YES" Geelong did have a Porsche dealership!
Wouldn't mind one for the back of my car to add to the very stock, original look

i managed to only walk over for a few minutes and have a quick squiz in my lumchbreak... was some nice not to mention original cars in display...
not suprised to hear that that red beetle won again, its kept pretty damm spotless and is quite a head turner... hey, id drive one if i was a chick!
bit dissapointed that i coulldnt enter my car this year... simply didnt have the time or the funds to get it ready... fingers crossed for next year hopefully...
must say though, i preferred the location last year.... i realise theres a few issues preventing this from happeneing again, but i think the extra foot traffic/exposure that the colley reserve (or similar) location gives is really valuable to the VW community...
none the less, looked like a good day for all, and as i said earlier, hopefully see ya all down there again next year... better get cleaning...

Awesome day, big cheers to all that organised and chipped in, and real good to meet a few more dubbers from the forum.
Loved the mint beige MK1, but it was sitting a little high

Big "WHAT UP!" to robin for hooking me up with the coilovers that led to me draggin my belly over speed bumps and pretty much everything else on the way there and back
Oh and turning up my street on the way home was . . . interesting

Well, it seems it didn't quite turn out this way, with the same car winning 2 awards (againOriginally posted by WEDEL.1 View PostI'm thinking the top 2 in each class ( Mk I, Mk II, Mk III etc) will be in the mix. The winner may the one that looks is the most special, different, unique....so the winner will not necessarily be the "cleanest".
).
Were Mk1s and 2s in the same category this year? Sick of only 1 Mk2 turning up and having no competition? And who owns that Mk2? It looks pretty sweet.
I'm not complaining, mind you. Very well organised and great to see a heap of VWs of all shapes and sizes turn out with their owners.

Well actually it turn out this way, with the Car of the Show coming from 1st or 2nd in that class.
The reason that car won is;
1. It finished 1st or 2nd in its class.
2. It looked a "special" car that was well presented.
John Mk 1 from Melb was very close in the equation.sigpic

OK I will come clean ( see what I did there) I did manage to get best of showOriginally posted by WEDEL.1 View PostWell actually it turn out this way, with the Car of the Show coming from 1st or 2nd in that class.

I was more suprised than anyone else. And you should have seen the look on Maris's face when I was presented with
the trophy as I then identified myself as scouser .
My car is used all the time as I mentioned, I did a wedding in it the day before.
I did whinge on here that it was just a clean car show and I still don't really agree with that, but I can see the reasons why it is run like that.
The main reason for my whinge is because I built my van myself at home in my shed with help from friends, I built the 4 inch narrowed beam , I fitted the discs, I fitted the IRS, I welded in the new metal 6 inches high all the way round, I did the bodywork. Infact the only thing I didn't do was build the engine and fit the headliner.
