Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

If we went there I think I'd be putting the GTI on a trailer anyway...
Two hours in the GTI is more than I could cope with, never mind the rest of the family

    Tough choice.

In term of dates - I vote for any date except 20-21 January.
Preferably after, so I can get more things done on the car

would be nice for me to be able to say YES I'm going but can't till I get my car back : ). And I'm sure their be a hand full of small bugs to iron out as well.

Definately wakefield is much safer track.seen too many first time schumachers lose it on turn one and damage the paint work on the inner armco! haha
Wakefield is also a pain to drive to from sydney but the spectators get to see all the action from the pits.
Whichever its at,IM IN!! my upgrade is finished from tomorrow so im ready.

wakefield is better suited for our cars anyhow, being a smaller shorter track and much more technical then EC.

we should set up a pole soon so ppl can vote since we have a few hands for show of interest.

God I can't wait to rip my car around.

So if a track day goes ahead, are we gonna be looking at spending about $200-$250?
              Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
              Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

it would look that way yes, alot of money but if you're keen would be a top day.
We need a firm commitment from people who intend to come once we get a date and everything set.

Realistically I would say more if your going to oil change before the track day and bleed your brake lines.

It's up to you how far you want to go with upkeep though.

it could be that it will cost a lot for the day. Is there any other cheaper alternative? Just an idea.

Having thought about it - Wakefield is a pain, but definitely the better option.
I'd think twice about EC, but would probably still front up if that's what everyone else wanted. $250 is a bit though, so I can understand the reluctance. To put it into context though, that's how much it cost to do the 6 laps around Wakefield in the Auscar
This way, you get to spend a good part of the day doing it....
The 2 hour drive would seem more worthwhile...

the cost of day at the track may draw people away, also the fact that many of us dont have a car for the track
i personally would come along anyway, but cant see that happening with everyone
i say, if u wanna make it BIG, make it interesting and approachable for everyone, from the guys with little mk1 diesels, to the top of the line dub owners

Ray don't worry will flash your car before then and it will be ok

Maybe possibly a cruise and make another day to the track for all the bigger cars. I went through to Wollongong a few weeks ago great cruise went to the light house which there wasn't a shortage of hectics in there civic's. Just one dub...ME! lol. But it was a enjoyable cruise and not one cop on the way down there and back, don't know why but it was good.

We made it back fairly quickly though only 40 minutes no thanks to the speeds we were doing hehe. But there is plenty of choices I know that track day will be expensive though for me anyway.
