I've voted, I'd attend local gatherings. Most suburban pubs have a trivia night, good to break some of the car only boundaries occassionaly.

as a side note and still part of the socialising, if there are any keen mountain bikers at any level of experience, let me know as I'm out most weekends with a few mates from a previous car club.

I like the idea of the roving meeting that allows those in the outer suburbs (like me) to roll up.

Just an idea, but maybe pub trivia would be good? Beer + food + chit chat.
Lol Benno, Return from exile? Are you a bit like me and licenseless?? Dude it sucks to be like that

Mate if your going for a mountain bike ride, as long as it would be fairly easy, i'd be keen, My level of fitness at the moment is a little above poor so yeah

And Finally Trent, Not meaning to go off the topic, but mate i'd be keen for this, as long as its not a late night thing during the week.

I've put myself down as "occasionally attending" due to the drive from the GC up north. The drive wouldn't be something I would do every month but would definitely like to attend a few meetings throughout the year.

Excellent. What I envision is definitely to try and head to different locations. Maybe have something down past surfers and also somewhere like Coomera/Hope Island way.

If all goes well we'll try to organise at least one towards the Northern suburbs.

We only ever drive the speed limit.
Plus the more MkIs we can get coming along on cruises the better. Old school for the win.
However these meetings are about social gatherings.

I would be up for a monthly meet, don't always need to go on a half/full day drives.

There's a really awesome pub hotel restaurant thingy at Tambo.. It's a great drive up there and then we'd be able to some hinterland cruising... Totally up for that!!

I was just thinking of starting a thread like this one mate, great idea. I'm always reading about Melbourne's crew and their adventures and felt a little left out.

I'm not really that keen on going for hundreds of Km's worth of driving but I'd love to catch up.

I like Camo's idea too, I'm budgeting a bit lately and probably couldn't do a exxy restaurant but I'd be interested in somewhere like a BBQ, pub or tavern; somewhere social and easy going.

I would try to come to the first one and then regularly after as I really want to help build a good watercooled community up here.

I reckon a nice casual BBQ in a park... We all bring a plate, a few steaks and sausages and there we go. There are plenty of good parks around and we can alternate the locations

I'm also a part of the alfa club, (I know that might be a dirty word on here but there you go ) But we used to go up to places like Mt Cootha for a bbq and a drive around the mountain (Slowly i discovered as i got a speeding ticket that day), Also Mt Tamborine, and Around the glasshouse mtn's were the main spots we went to to cover all locations, it was pretty good. As Maca said everyone brings a plate, more food than you can think about
