I should have known that, and I probably even spoke to you as well. It's a mean looking unit esp with the eyebrow (unibrow?) or whatever it's called and the dual carbies. Just a few weeks younger than my golf from my memory of the vin plate.

And what's the story with the 'silver bullet'? What's it used for?

        Cheers

My mates silver mk1 is a stockie 1600 auto with home made upper rear, upper front and lower front strut braces, rollin on 14's and bilstein suss, most of the interior has come out, relocated battery, and a few other bits. He races it at motorkhana and khanacross up at monarto, at the last meet he came second to mal(pres of vwcsa) in his beetle. I had a go a month or so back and it owns in the dirt, with the auto take off you get no wheel spin so it grips wickedly. Its about to get a twin throat solex carb and a set of extractors .

Ah, that explains why I couldn't see the battery and the exposed brakes and suspension.

Yeah we filmed the motorkhana day, i had a go with my car and a mate took his lowered civic up. Both mine and the civic suffered from way too much wheel spin so we wern't too compedative but it was awesome fun. I will put up some on youtube when i get the time

I know this is a little off topic but here is a short clip of two dirt runs up at monarto, the silver golf then mine. This was two weeks before VW day so by the pic at the end you can see how much work i had to put into my car to get it as clean as it was on the day awesome fun though.
