Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

There will be another dyno day here in Sydney in March , Guy is welcome to come down and do another run .

(Even a bogan in VZ V8 Commodore that almost fainted when he saw the figures ...LOL)

I suspect the temp probe was touching something it should not have as nothing was melting and the run was clean. So no B/S here I'm afraid.

I'm sure Guy will be able to reproduce this (and more) at any dyno you care to nominate. He was estimating another 30whp as probable with some more fine tuning.

i'd hope you don't do that often!

i'm not really knowledgable in dyno's but i really couldn't imagine guy or the operator 'fudging' results for the purpose, as johan said, of mainly non APR customers.

does that mean Jon's 120.5 atw on the same day in a chipped Polo GTI is B/S and too high. seems pretty low compared to everyone else in a chipped Polo (like me who got 122.2kW and 123.8kW on different dyno's on different days).

lastly, hasn't guy done work to the golf since the sydney dyno day??

Mine was purely temperture related. Not sure what your inlet air temp was on those runs but I topped 83deg due to the heatsoaked side mount. FMIC will cure that as both the other Polo's were down in the 40's.

            Seb,

I know you have a problem any APR car runs on a dyno any where in the world - As I mentioned last time you raised this - ring the dyno operator and ask your questions!

If we want to "rig" dyno's, why would we go to a public dyno day, in front of a dozen onlookers, in 37 degree heat, and let everybody see the tie down method, the operators run it (on a screen for all to see) ?

We have already been to Sydney and run on a dyno there - where else do we have to prove it - you want us to go to Darwin & then Tasmania? - Face it, the car ran 300 wkw on production parts, race gas & production software, - anyone can buy this kit off the shelf & do the same thing.

FFS its a track car, it now runs 4 degrees negative camber in the front, huge brakes, big rims. I am not overly concerned what it makes on the dyno (although 400+ whp is a nice bonus) - I am interested in what lap times it is capable of at Queensland Raceway, Morgan Park, Mount Cotton & Lakeside.

We really went to the dyno day to help out Dave Mack with numbers to make the event worthwhile - and instead of saying "thanks" to those who run an event, you come on & bag everyones results.

Oh - FYI, the results ran on the Polo & GTI with chip only are within 1.5 % of every other Polo / GTI run with chip only on that same dyno. And we have seen at least a dozen of each now.

Here we wont go again! Whenever figures are posted up here then the squabbling starts. Not going to happen here again. Glad we dont have half a dozen different tuners on here disputing the dyno readings all the time.
Its all there on the print out, Congratulations Guy, I must have a drive of it with all the extra mods mate.
              To others, Get over it!!!

Its a lie and you promote it . There is evidence in dyno tampering with excessive intake air temps . This has been done before and it seems nobody learns from this !

Let's not forget, Seb ... you were invited to this meet and could well have been standing there watching the result. Your "B/S" call is pure sour grapes.

                    Is it now .

So your willing to say that a standard gt28 can flow that much air on a 2.0tfsi that it makes more power than what even Garret claims ?

jon posted it and then deleted it because he obviously doesn't want to become a target but he said that the temp sensor definitely wasn't fixed properly on that run because on the next run it fell out, now that's some smart tampering!

geez, talk about brand jealousy... it's the last thing i expected from this thread, it shouldn't happen.

If the sensor fell out then IT and AT should almost be identical , not some 200 deg difference !

Guy, wasn't that the dyno's temp sensor that fell out on the second run? Could have been reading engine bay ambient temp.

Im sorry but I fail to beleive that a car that made 215 here in Sydney , 230 odd up there in Queensland can all of a sudden make 300 kw with only race fuel and a slight retune

Here is a more reasonable dyno chart for stage 3 kit from APR :
