  • NSW 12th Oct | NSW: The biggest Aussie VAG (watercooled) cruise ever...

    Howdy all...

I've been thinking about this for some time now and thought I'd throw the idea out to you peoples first. There are other forums out there besides VWW and I have been pondering the thought of organising a multi-forum cruise inviting the Texers, Oz-Audi guys and the Mk-V forum guys to join us for a squirt to a nice BBQ area for a saussage sandwich and a bit of a yarn.

There has been a lot of talk of late that we watercooled fans don't realy have our own event and I figure we have to start somewhere. I'm not promising a massive show or anything just yet but if we can gain enough intrest from both our own members and also the others from the many other forums, we might be able to attract a few sponsors to build up our own show.

Obviously the success of something like this realy depends on your enthusiasm, but if we start with a few big cruises and we can get the numbers together I think this could be something we could pull off.

What I want to hear from you guys is some sugestions for a good BBQ area that will allow as a nice cruise there and back. It doesn't have to be to the end of the world, something fairly local would be preferable.

    What do you think?

What about even getting/hiring an area from a local community hall or something else like that? You could always have a small fee like $10-$15 to cover the food and the space rental.

Anyway, I'll have a look at other car sites and see where they do their events and post anything up that I find...

What about a some of the national park area, i know they have big areas with BBQ in Lane Cove nat park. but once again, boring to drive to.
I reckon this would be great if we could get it off the ground.

Sounds like a good deal. Charge a small fee for food and put it towards this idea.. I like it.

I'm in. I was going to suggest bailling up whatever council is in the area your driving to and seeing if you can organise a "special parking" area somewhere, although that means everyone needs to play nice.

Parking will always be an issue unless your going somewhere with either lots and lots of parking or somewhere unpopular It's always a challenge.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

It's a stepping stone to getting something bigger and better organised. If we ever want to have our own decent event or show we will first need every one to get involved.

We need a name for the event also so I'm open to suggestions. The best I could come up with is: Fraternizing of the Forums

I'm one of you more creative ones can come up with a better name than that so let's hear some. I'm going to have a browse of the other forums and check out some of their cruise destinations so we can try and get a place that hasn't been done to death by any of them.

This sounds like a great idea. Providing it's at the right time, my car will come with me too!

Seeing as Homebush always has a shyteload of parking, is there anywhere in that area that incorporates both the BBQ with a park, and parking? That may work..?
